XBOX 360 HD-DVD Player

Hi, I'm seriously looking at getting the HD DVD player add-on for the 360, but ideally I want to play Region 1 discs as they are a damn site cheaper than the rip-off prices in this country!

Does anyone know if the UK release of the XBOX 360 HD-DVD player will allow US discs?

I ask this as I've heard that at present there is no region on the HD-discs?

Not sure whether this is true or not, hope someone can help me?

Cheers

There is no region protection on HD-DVDs at present, so an HD-DVD disc purchased in the United States will play on any UK HD-DVD player.

Region coding still applies to SD-DVDs of course, so a region 1 SD-DVD won't playable on the 360's HD-DVD drive - but then it won't play in the normal DVD drive either.

That's becuase I believe HD uses a copy protection system which can be used to enforce regions.

And HD in Europe works at 50 or 25 FPS, wheres dosn't the US use 30 / 60?

I saw one guy fall foul of this. He bought a HD set from Tesco which would only support HD if the set was switched to NTSC!
