I’m committed to buying a LCD Flat screen HDTV telly (in particular, one of the Toshiba WLT66’s) – but I can’t decide to go for a 32 inch or 37 inch screen.

The closest I sit to my current telly (a CRT JVC 28 inch) is 6 feet, the furthest away is just over 9 feet.

I’ve read plenty of articles online about correct viewing distances and screen sizes for HDTV, but when I see the 32 inch telly in the shops, I think that maybe its too small. But then, if I buy the 37 inch telly, I fear it which make non HD content look crap when watched from 6 feet away.

What shall I do? Help me fellow DS Forum members, please.

I have the 37WLT66 and sit a similar distance to you and I wish I had gone for the 42"!!! It is still an awesome TV though - not had any of the viewing angle problems people reported. The SD pictures are fine (apart from on a couple of the low-bandwidth UKTV channels

The Toshiba Regza's use a Feroudja LCD/Plasma controller chip. That means they use similer Feroudja algorthms as used in expensive projectors to scale up SD to HD. Check out toshiba.de for more info. The UK Tosh site is all style with very little substance, but that appeals to us style concious Brits, whilst the Germans must want all the techno babble.

I would guess it's the Cortez lite of the two which support HMDI.
