Jeremy Sheffield was supposed to do SCD but turned it down because he didn't want to be branded a cheat.

I’d like Richard Madely in it next, though Judy blatantly couldn’t handle it and would do a Tarby so she’d be no good.

Don’t want to see Louise Redknapp in it – She’ll be Emma Bunton mark II although I have a feeling that her pointless appearance on ITT was a clue that she’s on next year.

Token Cricketer - I must be the only person who thinks Shane Warne is handsome under all the blubber and I’d like my theory to be proved right when the dancing makes him lose weight.

I love shane warne! they might move away from cricketers though

Shane Warne is handsome but I have a list of cricketers I would prefer to see and none are Australian! (am prepared to negotiate for Brett Lee though)

I also have a list of cricketers I do not want to see so would appreciate the BBC contacting me before choosing.

perhaps Pauline Fowler will have some time on her hands next year and have a go

Yeah me too. Can't believe people think he's a minger lol.

Dodgy 80's hair and err slightly overweight but I definitly see the hotness!

I hope they have another cricketer - I think their season fits in well with the SCD calender so you actually get current players rather the footballers who are all ex players.

That's not funny because it could happen and I do not ever want to see her doing the Rhumba!

What a lot of great suggestions!

Gordon Ramsey would definitely get my vote for the chef spot.

As for sportsmen, how about Steve Redgrave or Matthew Pinscent? Or maybe even Ben Fogle? If they need a rugby player, I'd go for Brian O'Driscoll.

oh ben fogle might do it - he's up for anything. Ben vs Kate Humble!

Wow - I'm impressed. And envious. We were in the balcony with the other oldsters. I wonder what kind of dancer Paul would be. I'd love to see someone do a Viennese waltz with a fag in their hand. Who d'you reckon would be the best partner for him? Someone short and bossy like Karen, perhaps?

Oh yeah, VW, fag on and a complete look of distain
I think Erin might be good - the training sessions would be entertaining.

Just off now to try to imagine the rhumba, rhinestones and hip movement ...

Some more suggestions - TJ Ramani (DC Nadir on the Bill), Lorraine Kelly - I'm sure she'd either be a laugh or a prima donna, Jason Isaacs (Amabassodor Mark in State of the Nation - mmmm), Oona King (ex MP-lost to George Galloway so used to the SN tension), Nigella Lawson, Heather Mills Mccartney!

Surely BBC/SCD's dream contestent would be Zara Phillips.

1. Female sports woman
2. Profile sky-high as at moment she is 2nd favourite to win BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
3. Olympic/World/European titles in three-day eventing
4. Her profile will only get bigger and she'll be one of our world class sportspeople for the next Olympics
5. Will be a worldwide known superstar in the build up for the London Olympics where we hope she would win two Gold Medals for the UK - Team and Individual Three-Day Eventing
6. Her sport is such that she could compete and still remain active in her sport.
7. Learning to dance and being super-fit would be great for her in her sporting life, as is all cross-training.
8. Eventing need to raise the profile of eventing as its under threat as an Olympic sport.

I'll stop with the reasons justifying her place as a contestant and list a few 'tongue-in-cheek' reasons to love/hate the idea.

1. You want a A-lister. Zara is one that could be persuaded and fits so many of the SCD boxes. She also wouldn't necessarily be a natural performer; mover or stunner, so wouldn't unbalance the programme by being an obvious winner.

2. Think of the BBC and ITT with the potential guests she could wheel out week-on-week.
Prince William/Harry.
Mum and grandmum in the audience (Princess Ann and The Queen).
Her lovely boyfriend Mike Tindall, rugby player

3. She is a lovely person and great fun.

4. Zara personally would benefit from the media training that SCD would offer her. (So much so, I think I'm going to shoot off an e-mail to the publicity dept at British Eventing.

Nigel Harman is also a trained dancer. So he shouldn't be on it, although he would be nice.

Can't take any credit for these as others have all ready made the suggestions, but I do like the idea of Louise Rednapp (wipes drool from mouth)

And Jeremy Clarkson would be hilarious, a chance for everyone to get a really good laugh at him, with his dodgy back and crumbling hips, it might prove to be a little difficult for him though, mind you that belt busting gut wouldn't help either.

As is John B, Amanda Mealing and Fearne Cotton.

Lots of great suggestions, would especially love to see Jonathon Ross, Richard Hammond, Dermot, Davina or Simon Jones (can just imagine Arlene's swooning!!!) Also Marian Keyes would be great (btw, she was asked to do I'm a celeb this year!!)

Would also love to see David Walliams or Collin Murray (who has been asked to do it loads but has turned it down so not gonna happen)!

As long as Kelly Holmes never does it, I'll be happy!

(PS I used to love Shane Warne...until last Monday! )

Simon Jones would need 24/7 bodyguards for protection from Arlene (and quite possibly me )

Please no to Fearne Cotton few people irritate me more than her!

Love the suggestion of Richard hammond from TG, and Gordan Ramsey. David Ginola would be wonderful too.

How about Jeremy Gusscott (ex rugby player now Beeb commentator)

Oh, but can you imagine the reactions from him to the judges' marking? And the names he'd call some of them? It'd be like WWIII!

It's weird - I was just saying, privately (not having read this thread), that the Hamster should be partnered with Lilia (size-wise) - completely forgot about the incessant giggling! I don't know if they'd get much dancing done (although I imagine he's pretty light on his feet!), but they'd have a hell of a time practising!

Trouble is, I wouldn't know who to vote for (and no, I haven't forgotten about 'Captain Slow' ! I'd be voting for him, too!).

The hamster would be an inspired choice.

Would love JR but he has his Saturday radio programme so, as Saturdays are cruicial, can't see him having the time.

Tess LOL! She'd last a week and then be off of our screens. Result.

I'd love the hamster to do it!

James May has a degree in music - I think that would certainly help his rhythm!
