Even in the East End of London? Or is that the only place they still say it?

It's just that it seems a little corny. Or maybe it's done to represent a corny character. Or maybe I'm too provincial and have missed out on this particular liguistic fashion? After all, I still say "cool", although I expect the meaning has changed since I first used it

I don't say it. If I haven't seen someone for a long time there's usually a good reason so I tell them to bugger off.

I always say it. I'll say it to my friends at home when I go back for the holidays from Uni.

I said it in an e-mail to a cousin I hadn't seen or heard from in oh, 28 years!

I say it all the time! I didn't think it was unusual. (I'm not a Londoner by the way..)

I don't think its that unusual! I still hear people say it often, and not just in the London area either.

Yeah, they do. Also, 'don't be a stranger' or 'hello stranger'.

I do use it sometimes (I'm not from the UK)

Don't people use "cool" anymore then?

It's Chinese Pidgin English, and it's a turn of phrase I believe is used everywhere, not just London...
