He is such a gem... anyone care to list any favourite Norris moments?

Last Friday was great. Classic line: "If I'd wanted to scare people, I'd have bought a squirty flower!"

Norris is great.

One of my favourites was where he was officiating (?) at the Commonwealth Games, and they had him on the telly in the Rovers, but noone was watching

Hi Do you not remember that Norris popped up in Corrie in 1974 when the girls went to Spain and he was playing a Spanish waiter and Emily fell for him?

Wasnt it Mavis, anyway, Charity dear, I do too love him! I nearly died when he looked at Tracy with the Goggles, that is a classic Corrie moment!

He played a Spaniard called Carrrrrrlos who used his devilish charm to seduce Mavis into an engagement - but it then materialised he only wanted to marry her so he could get a work permit.
It's on the 1970s Corrie box set. My mum and I were squinting at the screen for ages thinking: "I know that face..." before one of us sqawked: "It's Malcolm Hebden!" (he had more hair then).
I'll need to have a think about top Norris moments - I agree with you, he's a great character (although back in the days of the Wiltons he used to really irritate me!)

I love him to bits and would like him to get involved in a proper storyline, not just pratting about on the street cleaning and spying on people.

In the words of Roy Walker...it's good, but it's not right!

He was not a Spanish waiter.

He lived in Weatherfield.

Mavis fancied him, not Emily.

The girls indeed went to Spain, where Mavis fell for a Spanish electrician named Pedro. When the gang returned to Weatherfield, Bet Lynch set Mavis up with one of her neighbours, Carlos (played by Malcolm Hebden). Mavis thought that Carlos was really interested in her, but was hurt to find out that he only wanted to marry her so that he could stay in the country.

How can you be too comical

I accept that he is not everyone's cup of tea but I think he is a true legend. The Commonwealth games scene was also a favourite. He was a steward in an awards ceremony.

When i say too comical, i think of people like noris, cilla (when playing the fool, not her recent cancer story)and sean. These characters seem to be clowning around an awful lot.

I really enjoy watching corrie, and disagree with those that accuse corrie of becoming 'carry on corrie'. Yet, i do feel that norris can act very silly sometimes, almost childlike.

Another vote for the anti-Norris camp here! Sorry, but I can't stand the sanctimonious old fool!

Go away anti-Norris brigade

Elsie can we have your opinions please?

'Hello Teddy Johnson and Pearl Carr' on Ken and Emily. Another LOL moment.

Norris is not slapstick. Apart from his night vision antics his humour is always verbal and never visual.

True Elsie. However, his silly behaviour doesn't appeal to all viewers. As i said in my post above, i do feel he behaves rather silly sometimes. It's not the actor, it's the character.

Slapstick, he is not. Silly, he is IMO.
