EE: what sort of relationship has Ian always had with Pat?
Are they friends or enemies?
Ian has a good reason to dislike Pat as much as Big Mo does, because: (1) she was married to his father Pete (brother of Pauline) but then cheated on him with Pete's brother Kenny; (2) her first son David is Ian's half-brother, but her second son Simon (a.k.a. Wicksy) had an affair with Ian's wife Cindy and he is the natural father of Steven Beale; (3) she took sides with Laura after Ian threw her out into the street, thinking Laura was carrying Garry's child. Similarly, Pat was appalled by Ian's treatment of Laura before and after she became pregnant, and when Ian offered Pat work with his business, she responded 'Why would I want to work for a slime-ball like you?' But on the other hand, Pat looked after Steven when he found out Ian wasn't his real father, and comforted Ian when Kathy died, describing her as 'a close friend'. Then again, weren't Pat and Kathy enemies, at first, and how did THEY become friends? Last edited by adam_fransella : 08-12-2006 at 12:33. |

Both her sons sh*gged his wife!
The main reason Pat hung around for so long was because of her grandson, Steven. Originally Angie and Kaff were close mates. When Angie left Kaff needed a new buddy. I seem to remember an episode where the pair of them got drunk and had to change a fuse in Pat's house. |

I think Pat and Ian are quite close friends as far as it goes. There is a lot of history there and Pat has been supportive to Ian with the kids prob because one of his kids, his step-spn Steven is Pat's grandson. Yes, there have been dodgy moments/circumstances, but their relatinship has a sort of family history flavour to it.

I think Angie and Pat were good friends too, weren't they. I seem to recall Angie going to Pat for advice constantly.

If David was Pete Beale's son, why did he use the surname Wicks??? Also, whilst we're on family questions, who was Donna Ludlow, she's in the Beale family tree, looks like Ian's sister. Anyone have any answers???? Thanks.

She returned to Kathy's life in 1987 but she spiralled out of control when she got hooked on drugs. She later committed suicide in the living room of number 25. |

Yes, I remember poor old Donna... she was a bit of a tragic character. Always thought she deserved a bit of a break, but Kathy's reaction to her was really well characterised and thought-provoking. You wouldn't get that type of depth now.

When Kathy was 14, she was raped. Donna was the result and she was given up for adoption. She returned to Kathy's life in 1987 but she spiralled out of control when she got hooked on drugs. She later committed suicide in the living room of number 25. Did she top herself? I thought it was just an OD, npot deliberate though. |

Because Pat cheated on Pete with his brother Kenny,
she and Kathy (Pete's second wife) were originally enemies, weren't they? |
