Can anyone tell me who the Scottish actor is who played the stroke patient in today's episode of Doctors?

Missed the end credits, which is why I'm asking. He looks very like either a Scottish newsreader or sports reporter.

His name is Tom Cotcher and he now writes a lot of scripts. He also helped Christopher Ellison write and illustrate a children's book.
