As the title above. What is your Earlierst Soap Memory...

Mine is:-

Eastenders
I remember sitting down and watching the first Episode. I remember the chair i sat in and remember my mum watching it with me

Coronation Street
I dont remember the first Episode of this . Earliest Memory of this really is when Bet & Alec Gilroy ran the Rovers. Also vague memories of Ivy being a battleaxe and Don's wooden leg.

Neighbours
Remember being at my nans and she watched it and Shane Ramsey was running around a car lot. Have no idea what was going on lol.

Emmerdale
Never watched it before the Plane Crash. Have watched it on and off since then.

Home & Away
Remember setting my Video for the Pilot Episode. Kept it on tape for ages. Remember thinking it always seemed darker than Neighbours lol.

Thats it from my memory banks...anyone else?

Hollyoaks: Max and OB fighting over Clare
Home and Away: Sally and Flynn telling Cassie and Ric about his cancer.

Eastenders - I have watched from the start and missed a few episodes but caught up with them on UK Gold.

Corrie - started watching when Gail got together with Martin

Neighbours - started watching when Scott & Charlene were seeing each other and she told him she was pregnant (she wasn't really)

Home & Away - watched a bit just before Paul & Emma got together

Don't watch any others and now only watch Eastenders and I watch most Corrie episodes

I beat you two then

Crossroads

I can remember Meg being married to Mr Mortimer

Eastenders

I only saw the last 5 minutes of the first episode.

Neighbours

I can remember the original Scott Robinson

Dallas

I can remember JR being shot the first time.

Emmerdale

I can remember when it was Emmerdale Farm and on in the afternoons. Amos Brierly ran the pub with Mr Wilks.

Who remembers:

Sons and Daughters, A Country Practice, Young Doctors, Richmond Hill, Shortland Street. I am trying to forget them now I have remembered them!

My earliest memory of Eastenders was when Arthur had a nervous breakdown and trashed the living room, including pulling the christmas tree down. I was about four or five and I can remember my asking my mum what was wrong with Arthur, she looked at me and said 'Oh he's having a fit love'.

For years later I thought that when someone had a fit they trashed their home!

With Corrie my clearest memory was of Brian Tilsey getting stabbed outside a nightclub.

I can also remember Kathy's husband getting shot in Emmerdale.

With neighbours I can remember Scoot and Charlene's wedding.

I remember Neighbours, Home and Away and Eastenders pretty much from the beginning.

Coronation Street I've watched on and off since the late 80s and Emmerdale I never really bothered with much at all until the 90s.

I went through a phase of watching Brookside in the early-mid 90s as well. I never watch Hollyoaks now, although strangely I watched every episode of the first year it was on in 1995!

I remember the first episode of Coronation Street.
My step-father was a television engineer & bought a set for my grandparents for Christmas. He tuned it in and a few minutes later the programme started.

I remember watching Crossroads when I came home from school.

Eastenders.
Whwn Donna the prostitue, who was also Kathy's long lost daughter, died of an overdose on Dots sofa.

Neighbours
Someone perhaps shane? was having a dream, and a cravan exploded. And Charlene was there with her overalls on.

Home & Away
When Pippa's baby died.

Emmerdale (perhaps Farm!)
Kelly Glover having an affair with her school teacher.
No it wasn't farm at that point but I do have vague memories of Cathy Glover being a bit psycho and practically stalking the Dr. That must be after the farm too though as I only ever watched it as I was a teenager when they brought out those adverts about how Emmerdale was all about the sex!

CS
Dont really watch it but I do remember when Dierdre's young turkish?? husband was stabbed.

Brookside
When Jimmy Corkhill ran over Rons son Tony and started the evrlasting feud between them.

Hollyoaks
When Ollie had the car crash with Julie in Kurts car.

Yes Crossroads used to be on in London at 4.20, so I too watched it after school, then it moved to 6.35.
Started watching Corrie early 70's, Jerry Booth was still alive so maybe that dates it for someone
Emmerdale at 1.30 with the old crowd, not from the beginning though.
General Hospital during the school hols ( does that count as a soap)
Angels (does that count)
There was one called The Newcomers in the 60's too
Brookside from ep 1 for years, until it all got too silly
Neighbours from early when there was Max and Jim and Helen pre Charlene

Coronation Street - Cant remember, think it was about 1995 though

Hollyoaks - When Ben and some others went diving in some caves and one of them died trying to save someone or other

Home and Away - When Ailsa saw Pippa's ghostly face in the fridge door.

The Bill - Kathy Bradford the nutcase

If you were twelve you would have been watching it since you were four. My fourteen year old daughter used to watch it with me when she was little, she can remember Paulines Irish family.

Corrie - Kevin splashing Sally as he drove past in his van.

Emmerdale - Turner working up at Home Farm, which was back the NY Estates.

Eastenders - Sue and Ali Osman running the cafe, also remember Mary the Punk.

Remember my mum always watching Country Practice and Sons and Daughters.

Corrie - Eddie Yeats persuading Annie Walker to buy a monogrammed carpet from him, and her subsequent outrage when showing it off to the people she was trying to impress and discovering that it was an off-cut from the Alhambra Weatherfield, a recently refurbished local bingo hall.

Emmerdale - Amos Brearly backing out of the farmhouse door at speed after offering to give Dolly's new baby a feed and being told he wasn't on the bottle - 'Well, what IS he on, then? Oh... 'eck!'

EastEnders - Kath running up woolly jumpers on a knitting machine.

The Bill - Reg buying a load of bedding plants to pretty up the station. He was pretending to be an expert horticulturist, but was actually only parroting the bloke he'd just bought the plants from at the garden centre.

Crossroads - Adam calling on Jill while she was busy making dinner. I think she was pregnant with someone else's child...

'You'll have to excuse me, I've got something in the oven.'
'So I've heard.'
'Don't be so COARSE, Adam!'

Corrie - Brian and Gail's wedding.

Eastenders and Brookside - watched from the very first episode

Don't watch Emmerdale these days but I do remember when it was still Emmerdale Farm and it was Amos and Henry in the Woolpack and the Sugden family was the focus of the programme and I'm sure it used to be on at lunchtime when I came home from school for my lunchbreak.

Neighbours - the Scott and Charlene days

Home and Away - I remember when it first started but the first memory is Dannii Minogue being in it.

I remember in Neighbours when Lucy Robinson fell down a storm drain then temporarily lost her sight. I remember Jim helping her to get dressed and asking which foot her socks should go on
