Not even that necessarily, could use a big name actor to play a particular Doctor, as was done in the 1960s Doctor Who films.

I might watch this I might not, im not really sure

as to a Doctor between McGann & CE, ok as long as he commits to a few seasons on TV, a prequel to CE wouldnt be so awful, however it could be problemtic with Daleks etc

How about an animated version of the TimeWar.Star Wars did it with the Clone Wars cartoon that was shown on tv between episodes2 and 3 being released in the cinema. As long as they could get Paul Mcgann to do the 8th Doc's voice to make it appear cannon. They could use an animated image of Ecclestone to complete the missing regeneration.I doubt he'd record any dialogue for it but maybe just a line like some of the previous doctors got at the end of a series when they regenerated.

Following that line of thought on a moment, with the good work done on the animated episodes on the DVD release of 'The Invasion', howz about somebody pitching the idea to whoever cares / has the money of an animated release of the Time War - maybe on DVD only or something - which would (a) answer loads of people's questions about it and (b) give us a visual treat in so far as you can do more with animation than you could do with real people and CGI etc.

Plus the fact they couldn't possibly f**k it up a la 'Torchwood' (the TV equivalent of going a date with the woman / man of your dreams only to find they are dull, boring and tedious!!)?

Just my tuppence worth...

I have been listening to DW on BBC7 for some time. Paul Mcgann is really good as the doctor. It is a real shame he never got a chance to continue on TV. I like the animation idea as I was given the Clone Wars on DVD last Christmass and really enjoyed it.
