Toshiba 17wlt56 IDTV locked up - help

Hi,

For a while now my toshiba 17wlt56 tv has locked up when you try to select DTV mode. Analogue and PC monitor functions work ok but as soon as you select digital you get a frozen picture of what you were last looking at.

Has anyone else seen this? Is there any way to reset it back to default state and therefore reset the IDTV part of the thing?

Cheers

Dave

Tried turning off at the mains for a couple of minutes?

Sorry I wasn't clear enough - this has gone on for about 3 months and yes the mains has been on and off several times in that period.

What I'm looking for if possible is some kind of "engineering menu" method to reset it to factory state.

Not that i know of, have you tried contacting Toshiba directly?

Yes but you get to speak to someone in a call centre whose only suggestion is to send it back to the shop.

Before I do I would like to try these options, there must be a reset mechanism.

Most earlier models of Toshiba Tv's had access to the service menu by :
Pressing Mute on the remote handset .
Press ( and hold ) Mute on the handset whilst simultaneously pressing 'Menu' on the television itself .

One of the options on one of the menu screens is a full reset of the Eeprom . This reset or options menu may only be accessible after pressing another remote button ( could be the 'Call' or 'i' button - I forget ) .

If using the above information you accidentally select the wrong type of screen for your set you may lose all pictures .

You have been warned !

To be honest , I think the digital board is faulty and the set needs to go back to Toshiba .
