Just interested to know how the boys this year measure up.
Maybe my memory is failing me but I don't remember Darren or Colin receiving so much critisism from the judges at the quarter final stage last year so were they better dancers. Or are the judges just more picky?

My opinion is that Colin overall is the best of the four and that Mark is better than Darren with Matt last of the four.

This years SCD seems to have attracted far more contreversy, and I reckon the voting this time is much more personality based.

Do you think the boys this year have peaked or have they got the ability and desire to up a gear in the semi . I say with reluctance I think they have peaked.

I reckon if any of the three turn in a less than than perfect performance this week they are going to get really hammered by the judges.

Mark and Matt for the final. ( fingers crossed)

For me Colin is the best male dancer of any series...I think Jill and possibly Denise the Diva may have a slight edge over him, but he literally wipes the floor with the rest.

Never rated Darren very highly, I think that both Matt and Mark are better than him.

I would rate it as follows

Colin & Mark - very equal in ability but I do think that Colin was more consistent and I hate saying that because Mark is not Arlene's passion he is mine.

I would then put Matt third and Darren last - never really rated him - sorry!

colin was the best male of all 3 series for me to and i pray he will be back at xmas
mark would be second becuase he is not consistent
colin only had one bad week in the comp which was when he done his jury service

Well, Colin was nigh-on perfect in my eyes - technically brilliant, emotive and strong. His timing has never been bettered, except maybe by Jill, and even Jill would have struggled with such a complicated freedance as the muppet number, danced entirely on his own, and in perfect syncronicity with Erin. He used to make my jaw drop every single week.

After him I'd put Mark and Matt roughly equal, with each having a discipline they excell in and one they struggle in. They go up and down week to week, and I can't really say that one is better than the other.

I'd put Darren last, because I never thought his dancing in either ballroom or latin was brilliant, but he certainly had a certain 'something' that got people voting for him, and I did admire him for putting aside that very heavy macho facade and working his a*se off to become a dancer.

I'm with you, btw doesmyheadin, an all-male final would be the perfect end to the series!

See, while I agree with this, I hated the way he reminded us of it every week - "Ahm a reeeeeeeeeeeeel man, me"


Bugged the hell out of me, whereas CJ was full of grace on and off the floor. Worse still, he has come across as very arrogant since.

Mark has stagnated now. Matt has improved but is not as good as Mark.

Matt is better than Darren.

Mark is better than Darren.

Colin is better than all of them.

Though I think Emma will go out next week and if Mark has an iffy dance in the Final Matt will win it.

Hopelessly biased as I am as a Colin fan the reason Colin never got criticised much (he was just criminally undermarked) was because he was just soooo phenomenally talented. Only really slipping up on the Tango (didn't have time to train because of jury service....but Flavia who wasn't a dancer on the show at the time did credit Colin as the celeb with the most talent for the Tango)......and with the Jive (old knee injury). Took all plaudits and criticisms with good grace.

Darren did receive a lot of criticism from the "Gruesome Twosome" CRH and Arlene. Arlene especially about his hands...to which he became a little touchy about. Any criticism was met with "well I'm a bloke and I can't dance nancy". I agree with your rating tho. Colin, Mark Darren and then Matt

Colin is obviously the best, did so many brilliant dances and only had 2 weak performances (jive and tango)

Mark I would put 2nd. He isn't as consistent as Colin was and his ballroom isn't nearly as good but I think he is as good if not better at latin than Colin was (Rumba not included)

Matt is a close 3rd. His ballroom is very good and his latin has improved so much... I just don't think he performs with nearly as much charisma as Mark and Colin... or Daren for that matter

Darren is 4th. He improved a lot but I never really rated him that highly.

Well, I couldn't stand Colin. Could barely watch him, but I have to say that putting my bias to one side, he was, overall, the best male of any series. Mark at his best, with his spark and charisma edges him, bit Colin has the consistency and therefore takes it.
Darren is third with Matt a non existent fourth, He shouldn't even come into consideration in my book.

Darren thou whilst not being the best is my favourite though. He is someone who most definately made the most of what he had and he took the show so seriously as well.

For me Colin was by far the best male dancer we've had on Strictly ... we will never know if Spoony could have ended up rivalling him (I think he would have become fantastic!)

Then I would rate them

2 - Mark
3 - Matt
4 - Darren

I disagree , Mark's ballroom was as good if not better than anything Matt has produced and I did think they were tempted to bring out the 10 .
In any case the whole Mark can't do ballroom was not actually true , as he produced a vg tango, american Smooth and VW. Th waltz was really well doen .
It was the foxtrot which fell flat and if you recall Len and Bruno gave 8 for his rumba

If anything I would say Matt has stagnated

Colin and Mark are the 2 best male celebs , and Colin lost last year rather Darren winning .
I also rate Aled Jones , better than Matt and Darren .

Colin was technically the best what he didn't have was that spark which lit up the room. That was all he lacked though.

Second = Mark. Just makes me want to get up and dance.
Third = Matt
Fourth = Darren

2 Mark

3 Matt

4 Darren

I hope that was a joke. That Waltz did not deserve any tens. I don't even think he deserved 9's for that performance.

I cant understand anyone putting Matt ahead of Darren. They are the two most obviously to be compared, but Matt is barely even interested in SCD. He doesnt even care if he is voted off.

Maybe I am just letting personalities come into it, but I dont like Matt at all. Mind you, I didnt like Colin and I still accept he was the best. Matt is a non entity.

I don't like Matt either. He is still a better dancer than Darren was though, and that was the question.

I actually think this is right , not sure he doesn't care if he voted off , but he has never shown the interest in dancing shown by the others .

No it isn't ajoke .I didn't say I thought it deserved a 10 . And had they got out a10 I would have been very worried .
I am well aware you have no time for any dancing ability Mark may possess but like it or not there was very little wrong with that waltz on saturday night ,whereas there was a great deal wrong with Matt's , unusually .

How can you write that he deserved a 10 when he made mistakes in his footwork. Matthew Cutler pointed this out on the commentary.

How do I know? Last week Tess asked him if he wanted to stay/minded being voted off and he just shrugged. Didnt care one way or the other.
