WHAT DOES 1920x1080 mean on lcd tv

hi guys on my lcd it come on the screen 1920x1080 but what does this mean as ihavent got a clue

It means your TV has 2,073,600 pixels (i.e. little dots). Try 'Googling' 1920x1080 as there is plenty of information readily available.

That's the resolution of the picture it's displaying, which in other words is 1080i HDTV.

It may be that the LCD is showing what the input resolution is which is what my Philips LCD does so when viewing SKY HD it's shows 1080i (or 576p for SD) even though the panel is only 1366*768.
