Figures in 1000s

If it's to be premiered on BBC2 then BBC3 you'd expect a combined viewing of 3.5m-4.0m (not including the nth repeat on BBC3). My prediction is that more people will tune in for the BBC2 premiere than the BBC3 showing a few days later. How that total compares to this years' we'll wait and see. The thing is this: BBC2 can sometimes get better viewing figures than BBC1 - especially if the latter is showing a mediocre drama.”

Apologies - I misread your original post and thought you were referring to the BBC2 viewing figures.

I wonder who gets the final say in a scheduling decision like that?

It really doesn't make much difference to me which channel it's on - but they'll be likely to get the viewing figures up if they premiere on BBC2. That's gotta be the only motive eh?”

isnt lost only available on Sky, yet Torchwood is available on freeview and all platforms?

The only thing that drives me to hostility is when FMs go out of their way to find ridiculous and unjustified criticisms just to have a go at Torchwood (or any other programme). Like your criticism that it wasn't doing enough to promote a safe sex message, or oi-cheeky's claim that it wasn't offering a positive view of gay people.

I am more than happy to engage in polite and mature debate with any FM who is able to recognise that this is television drama, and to articulate a view that goes beyond "this is utter shite, this is".

An APPALLING decision. And further PROOF, if any was needed, why the TELLY TAX needs to be taken away from the bbc as soon as possible. Everybody involved with this PUERILE junk needs to be FIRED immediately. The spirits of BILL, PAT and JON are whirling in their graves at this misguided decision. The TRUTH is that the bbc are too SCARED to cancel this travesty because of the MONEY they have sunk into it. And anyway Ms Gardner can't be seen to doing away with one of her PET PROJECTS now can she? Still, the cancellation of THE STATE WITHIN will pay for it, I suppose.

How?????????

I've seen school nativity plays acted better......

I think a compulsory spell at RADA for the entire cast is needed.

ha ha one the haters,
well tough luck series 2 is offical,
if you hate a show soooo why post in threads about it,
i for one am delighted we'll get to see more from this intresting and innovative series.
i really like the fact it's set in cardiff, it makes it unique, and funny to think that all that all theres a time rift above wales.
looking forward to seeing what happens to these caracters,

i also think a casulalty among the main cast would keep things fresh, not sure who but possibly gwyn, she seems to be the most involved with the team, and Reesewould want answers. Hopefully series 2 will tweak and improve some of the flaws in MY second favourite series

Unlike yourself I don't attack other forum members for having a different opinion than myself. You seem to resort to personal attacks far too often and to be honest I'm a bit fed up of it. Don't like my opinions? Fine feel free to add me to your ignore list because frankly I'm fed up of you too.

Or at least have more Dr Who crossovers. Have they forgotten where the whole thing comes from?

Maybe Tegan could be involved, or Ian, Barbara, Liz Shaw, SJS. Whoever is still around.

My comment was in direct reply to your statement that "Incidentally, I'm not trying to be hostile towards Torchwood...".

The only time I recall getting "hostile" here was when some t*sser suggested that Torchwood did not present a sufficiently positive image of gay people. I told him he was talking b*llocks, which was with hindsight a little rude and might have been phrased rather more maturely but was undoubtedly deserved.

And I don't have an Ignore list. Never have. If you ignore someone you fall out with, how can you make up again afterwards?

No! we want more Gwen. Gwen is fantastic. Wouldn't be the same without her. Saint Gwen of Torchwood has a nice ring to it. (And I'm sure the same can be said of Ianto).

Perhaps the whole cast could regenerate? Same characters, different actors

Apologies if anybody's posted anything similar to what I'm about to but I haven't got time to read through all the posts.
What direction would you like to see TW take in series2.Given that the synopsis for the final episode this series says that
Spoiler
The rift is fracturing further
Perhaps the team'll be able to travel to other planets and dimensions. It'd be interesting to see an adult themed show facing the slitheen for instance.Perhaps we could see the grisly end that they richly deserve in all its violent glory

I'd like to see a giant cow come through the rift and drop a giant cowpat on Cardiff.

A couple of years ago I'd have said that that would only have improved the place (and would probably have been right) but these days I have to grudgingly admit that Cardiff is a pretty nice place. If it weren't so English-speaking I'd probably like to live there myself.

Why's that?

I've been there and it's a bright, friendly place.

If people are incredulous as to why a sci-fi series is set in Cardiff I really don't get where they're coming from.

Why is it so weird to suspend your disbelief about that city more than any other? Why would London, New York or Roswell be acceptable for sci-fi type activity and Cardiff not?

There's no reasonable argument against it being set there as far as I can see.

I have spent ages thinking that Owen looks like someone ive seen before.

Then watched the film Oliver and realised that Owen looks exactly like Jack Wild who played the artful dodger....are they related?
Its something about the cheeky/sulky look they both have. does anyone else agree or am I just imagining things?
