Right - this is a bit complicated, I have been using voipcheap via a Pap2 for all outgoing calls for a while now.
I have a sideline that I run from home that i provide an 0845 number for. Being that voipcheap is an 0560 number this means that the 0845 number cannot be mapped to it as they only map to numbers starting 02 or 01. We still have an NTL landline but I want to keep that seperate from the business so I signed up with sipgate and got a local number. I then configured port 2 on the pap2 for sipgate and now the 0845 maps to the local sipgate number.
All is working well apart from that after about 5 mins of conversation the line dips out for about 5 secs. Not the end of the world but a bit of a pain.
I haven't put any credit on the sipgate account as they don't offer free landline calls like voipcheap.
I have 2 questions:
1. is the dip in the line on sipgate something that they put on to encourage users not just to use if for incoming calls? or is it just a problem that sipgate has? I don't want to pay for sipgate if it doesn't get rid of the problem.
2. if I plug another phone into port 1 on the pap2 will I be able to use both lines at the same time - i.e. will the sipgate call come in if I am making an outgoing call on the voipcheap? I haven't tried it yet as the pap2 only came with one connector..
thanks in advance
