They are hardly new. They've been around since 95. They've had three albums.

There's this great beat combo i've heard who come from Liverpool. The two main guys write all the songs, then they have this other good-looking guy who seems to be into bhangra, and then the WORST DRUMMER IN HISTORY (apart from Pete Best) whose hobby is doing voice-overs for children's TV series based on imaginary trains that can talk.

Check them out

are people incapable of replying to a perfectly harmless post without making some sort of sneering put down comment?.

However, as it seem to be the fashion these days Ill join in.

You dont seem to know much about drumming do you.!

how am I doing?, have I got the hang of it yet?.

Come come, my young apprentice...'twas a lighthearted riposte, no more.

And Ringo *was* an awful drummer. Okay, so through being battered repeatedly with a "how to drum" book he did a good enough job to keep his spot in the band, but listen to some of his godawful early drumming and it makes you wonder whether he was drumming with his legs instead of his arms - witness his simply TERRIBLE non-metronomic action on "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". Even compared to his peers he was hapless.

Anyway, back on topic.....

"Everclear - Songs From An American Movie pt.1: Learning How To Smile" is one of my favourite albums of all time. Admittedly a lot softer than their other albums, it just makes me feel so happy, and the lyrics are great.

well, they sacked Pete Best and got Ringo cos they believed his drumming was very good.
however, as you know more about it than the Beatles then who am I to argue?.

Don't be facetious. Ringo was a great drummer for the Beatles to have, because he didn't go into business for himself and the songs were all about the melodies anyway. He kept to himself and did the absolute minimum to give the songs tempo. That doesn't mean he was anything more than a guy who could just about bang out a rhythm.

You can't seriously say you listen to the Beatles and admire Ringo's drumming?

John Lennon was once asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world, to which Lennon replied "He's not even the best drummer in The Beatles!".

I love that quote.

Yes.thats exactly what Im saying. especilly on albums like Abby Road. His drum figures in 'Come together' are inspired.
He is an extremely underated drummer, and you cannot have listened hard enough if you think all he did was 'the minimum to keep tempo'.

As someone who has been listening to Everclear for a good few years and is a big fan of North American guitar bands (or college rock as they like to call it over there)who has continually been annoyed at their lack of success over here can I recommend THE VERVE PIPE
THE MATTHEW GOOD BAND
GRANT LEE BUFFALO
BUFFALO TOM
As bands at least as good as Everclear and a damn site better than the crap over here!

I like all of those bands.

Well, I don't know what SR-71 or Yellowcard is, but the rest are great. Especially Course of Nature - Caught in the sun, and Course of Nature - Dead End Lights.

I also like Days of the New (a couple songs), Goo Goo Dolls, Cranberries, and others.
