Got a Quintro or Trilogy scart switch ?
.....and a voltmeter ?
Could someone please tell me what voltage they are getting on pin-8 of the primary recorder output scart (port 1 on the Quintro, think it is marked vcr on the Trilogy). I am getting 0v. Just want to know if this is a design limitation or a fault on my unit. |

I got a Trilogy scart set from Lektropaks.
Utter crap. They make a big thing about the switch on it. I paid £30 and it lasted a few months, but picture interference was just as evident as it was with a £5 dual scart from the market. The market one only input one device at a time and as long as you only have one switched on the quality was equal to the Lektropacks rubbish. Overpriced junk with a fancy case and a mains plug |

The voltage on the pin of the output to the TV (if that is port 1) will only be on if one the the devices connected to another port is outputting a voltage itself. This is how the autoswitching occurs. I know it stillworks works on mine because I recently bought a new recorder and it did then so it must be outputting a voltage correctly. However I find autoswitching annoying (particularly the off switching back to TV) so I disable the pin in all my SCARTS.

On my box, with an input device connected and selected, I am getting voltage on pin-8 of the tv scart but nothing on pin-8 of the primary recorder scart which is preventing me from recording in widescreen. I want to know what other's are getting to see if it is a fault or not. |

I don't think the device will have a switching voltage on any output other than the TV one.The widescreen switching voltage is only there to tell the TV to compress the 4:3 picture into a 16:9 shape (this is effectively the same as an anamorphic dvd). |

How about digging out that voltmeter and finding out ?
Well mines not outputting anything on pin 8 port 1 either.Incidently how are you trying to record widescreen and to what type and make of recorder? |

Pin 8 on the SCART socket controls widescreen, and any recording device should be able to record it. I have a 10-year old Philips VCR that records it, also a 1-year Pioneer DVD/HDD recorder.
BTW I think Cobson and I have spoken about this before, but I don't think the Trilogy/Quintro boxes handle widescreen properly anyway. I sent mine back because it couldn't do it. |
