Time for a Doctor Who franchise forum of its own?

What with there being so many topics on the subject of these, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to give it its own forum. Like X-Factor and Big Brother get seperate from the 'reality' forum?

Opinions?

I'm sure that when this question has been aired before the answer has been that this forum was set up principly for Dr Who - its the other shows threads that are interlopers.

I agree with you, Dr Who needs its own home now

I like Dr Who being in the Cult Forum. I don`t think it should have a forum to itself. I like the diversity here and the Dr Who threads can attract comments from people who aren`t fanatical about it - the sort of people who`d never visit a forum exclusively devoted to Dr. Who.

If it ain`t broke then don`t fix it IMHO.

I know. Why do crappy shows like BB or XF get their own forum?!

In favour, for the same reason I support each of the soaps being given their own sub-forum.

Now that DW is not just classic and current - it has two fully fledged spin-offs and another 3 magazine programmes!

Equally I think the likes of Lost, BSG, Stargate, Star Trek etc should have a subforum.

THe reality TV forum creates them at the drop of a hat it seems.

I think the Cult (née Sci Fi) forum is generally fine. I was in favour of a DW only forum last year, but this works for the most part.

I do agree that it's very strange the way some programmes in other genres get their own sub-forums, especially when they seem to be on so briefly and then disappear. I would have suggested it was about the viewing figures, but then DW would have its own home without question.

Let it be, I say.

On consideration, leave things be.
Its a pain checking lots of subforums for new threads, and with the forum as it is its easy to spot threads on the more obscure stuff.
Its not like this place is so busy that threads drop off page 1 in a matter of minutes!

I don't mind it either way, but it can't be a big deal to set up a separate forum for DW related stuff.

Just click 'New Posts' (above centre ^) and you cover the waterfront, so to speak.

no i prefer a one stop 'cult' shop, i like to check in on who, lost, and 24, plus ocasionally other cult things to stay in the loop.

would not be able to trawl through lost of different bits if it split so would just stick to other forums i guess.

Sadly, we've tried and asked the Moderators.

DOCTOR WHO is, probably, the biggest most popular brand of sci-fi drama in the UK across all ages.

There were complaints that this CULT FORUM had too many DR WHO topics...but it proves that fans like DS (access for all unlike an American fan site that stops you joining if you disagree with their fan-stance).

The christmas episode is due and will probably bring a deluge of comment, which could overwhelm the general CULT FORUM.

Could DS re-consider a DOCTOR WHO forum?

Thank you, and a happy WHO Christmas to all fans.

We don't need a Doctor Who forum. All we need, in theory are two threads for Torchwood, A bbc2 pace, and a bbc3 pace. Every other show in the cult forum works quite well like that, what's so special about Torchwood that it needs a new thread every episode, and every time something happens? Same for Dr.Who, For instance, we don't need a new thread about some episode names! That can surely be added to an existing thread. So, no we don't need a Doctor Who Board!

This is my point. There's a thread for everything regarding the show, a ratings thread, a poll thread per episode, a thread per episode. I'm not criticising the posters for this, thats all fine, but it does tend to overwhelm the rest of the threads on the forum.

If you ask me, Dr Who is mainstream now and not 'cult' so therefore requires its own forum away from the Cult forum. The TW and DW fans like to say how high its ratings are, again, that's all good and I'm more than pleased that people enjoy the franchise - but with Sarah Jane Adventures joining the list - that is what its become. It's not really 'cult' anymore.

I don't really understand your reasoning here. BBC2 is never more than three days behind BBC3, and viewers who cannot receive BBC3 (or choose to watch Torchwood on BBC2) simply have to avoid reading the relevant thread until Wednesday. It's not like the "US-pace" and "UK-pace" threads for the popular American series, where the US may be weeks or months ahead.
