HD Television! Yay Or Nay!
Discuss High Definition Television here!
What is HD like compared to a normal flat screen TV? is it worth the extra money? Do you watch more HD channels than normal ones?

Hi Woolley - another one from Kiddy then.
I'm not rushing out to get HD really don't see the need for it unless you are going for a large format TV. Personally I don't like large TVs, I have 28" widescreen DTTV and that's plenty big enough for us, we are more than happy with the picture quality. |

There's only the BBC demo channel on satellite at the moment in High Def for free. Everything else is on Sky or Cable subscription, which is way beyond my pockets!
And before you say it, it is true Samsung have a UK Blue-Ray High Def capable movie player out now, but again, £777 is out of most peoples reach. Dave |

I think it boils down to how many of the HD channels avialble you currently watch on SD. If you spend all your time watching Sky Movies or Premiership Footy, then you will get the benefit. If you spend all your time watching the main BBC/ITV channels, then these aren't in HD. If you get a good HD set then it can scale SD channels from an ordinary digibox comparable to the SKY HD box's scaled SD output of SD channels. You don't need a SKY HD box to watch scaled SD channels on a HD Ready set. Last edited by jer1956 : 13-12-2006 at 12:00. |

YAY for HD for us.
DH is movie mad and watches everything on Sky movies HD, plus stuff like Torchwood on BBC HD.... quality is amazing. Even mere little me appreciates the difference. I compare it to taking a photo with a 2 mega pixel camera and a 10 mega pixel camera! That's me laymen terms LOL |
