Help with audio cd with dts
I have a Samsung dvd player that plays dts and dolby digital movies through a Sony Amp also with dd/dts with no problem, recently i purchased a couple of music cds with dts playback but when i play them on my dvd player the Sony amp says DEC ERROR and there is only silence
Anyone come across this or can help please Thanks in advance |

If your dvd player plays DTS on movies and the amp has a DTS logo on it there should be no problem.
However, your amp may have settings to adjust. My Denon has a setting that reads DTS/PCM/AUTO. On auto it switches to whatever sound I input. So if a setting on yours is set to DD or PCM it won't output the DTS. Search through the settings. I can never see any point in leaving it set to anything bar AUTO. I have a handful of DTS cd's and they are breathtaking |

You wouldn't like to point us in the direction of some of these - suggestions of good albums and places you can buy?

From your description the problem would appear to be that the DVD player is not outputting the correct encoded audio. Have you checked your audio settings menu on the Samsung? There is a DTS On setting (and also a Digital Bitstream Out setting). If these have no effect then I suggest you contact Samsung to confirm if the DVD player can play CDs with DTS.
Edit: I'm assuming you are using a digital interconnect as the Samsung does not output analogue audio when playing a DTS disc. Last edited by soulboy77 : 13-12-2006 at 10:59. |

The best of The Police is excellent. I also have the 2 Sting albums Nothing Like The Sun and Ten Summoners Tales. Not sure why,but my favourite track from TST is actually not included on the DTS version (lack of capacity perhaps?) Alan Parsons Project. DTS cd's are available from http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?sear...arch&pa=search The dvd's of Queens Greatest Flix (new versions) have a DTS soundtrack but no Dolby Digital. Bohemian Rhapsody in DTS is buttock clenching. Most DVD Audio discs seen to have a DTS track too. SACD is also a wow for music and both Dark Side of The Moon and Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds are amazing. |

I would have bought War of the Worlds if I'd had a SACD player especially since it was only £6 in Woolies recently. It's a pity they could'nt have done a DVD version as well but since it's on a Sony label that's not likely at the moment. |
