Yep - this is worrying me too! Vincent has been an absolute revelation on SCD this year and brought a different flavour/character to the show & the dances. I just hope this doesn't hinder his or Flavia's chances for coming back to the next series. Although, Brendan's said quite a lot in the past as well and I don't think that the SCD posse would stop him from coming next time because of it (in fact, he's actually apprearing in another beeb show!).

Nah I don't think it will!

He has been one of the more popular contestants liked by the public and I think respected by the judges, would be amazed if he wasn't back!

I sound like a Vincent fan this morning!

We organise charity dance events featuring the dancers from strictly and I can honestly say they are a great bunch and genuinely passionate about dance.

We had Vincent and Flavia perform for us and run some workshops just before the new series started and what genuinely lovely people.

One of the nice things about dance is how accessible the top dancers are.

Really? I can remember back to only a week ago when people on this forum were talking about how sleazy he was, and how arrogant and how they couldn't bear it if he won due to the smugness overload that would then occur.

How things change!

There's nothing wrong with that (tut tut tut!).

But your right - even though it was his first SCD, I think he's made his mark and built up his own fan base. And I do also agree that he seems to be well respected by all of the judges/professionals so it shouldn't stop his return to the show next year.

But maybe he hasn't learnt who to play the game (ie keep quiet, agree with everything the SCD team tell you to & be careful what you say). And italians are hot blooded & passionate people and usually say what they think (although Bruno tends to go a little wild! ).

And Slappy - I do understand where your coming from but I think a lot of the negativity about Vincent came from the 'loverman' persona, which he was just putting on to win votes. But, if people have changed their views on him - then this is a positive thing & good for Vincent!

DerChef says

Before James Jordan showed his chest he was regarded as a Misogynistic half werewolf with no house training

I sincerely hope it will not cost him a place in future series he has been an absolute joy this series with his humour and talent. I think it would be really petty for the BBC to not invite him back because of what he said. I think he probably said what everyone already knew Loiusa and Emma have had some dance training albeit not in ballroom, and what proffessional dancer is going to complain when they are paired with someone who can dance!

There is no way Vincent won't be back next year, Bruno will ensure it (as he will Ian's return).

It's worth noting that Vincent and Flavia are possibly the most accomplished dancers in the series....
4 x UK Professional 10 Dance Champions
3 x UK Professional Showdance Champions
European and World 10 Dance and Showdance Finalists
3rd at the World Argentine Tango Championships
World Argentine Showdance Champions

Karen Hardy is also very accomplished and Darren and Lilia are the British Closed Latin Champions.

The remark you highlighted was more meant for the public at large rather than just this forum.

The polls here and the BBC had them both placed highly and unlike others were never in the bottom 2 after a high placement.

They would never had gone had the judges not placed them so lowly.

Won't pretend I was a fan of his or Louisa's but can see the value he bought to the competition

That's really nice that they do that it's good to hear

Have you had a chance to work with all the pros?

I should add, the dancers don't do the events for free, we pay them handsomely. Surplus cash goes to the charity after dancers fees, flights, hotels, food, hire of hall etc etc

We've worked with;
Anton and Erin - 4 or 5 times
Darren and Lilia - 4 or 5 times
Ian and Camilla - once
Vincent and Flavia - once

We've also worked with other non SCD dancers.

First off, I'll admit that I've always felt it to be slightly unfair that the stage school contestants undoubtedly DO have an unfair advantage. However - and I don't know how anyone else feels about this - but I wouldn't mind in the least seeing the likes of Jill Halfpenny, Emma etc as contestants IF ONLY there were at least some acknowledgement by the programme makers/judges or whatever that their basic dance training gives them a head start, and hence put the efforts of the other contestants into a more realistic context. I think it's the omission of this acknowledgment that narks so many people - well, it does me!

Previous dance experience doesn't bother me because the public don't vote on ability anyway.

What hacked me off about this series was the wildly differing levels of fitness. Pitching portly Jimmy T against a 17 year old was plain daft, not good tele, just stupid. Age aside the program makers should at least choose people who are fit and able - IMHO

Especially when the judges insist we vote for the best dancer or does that only come into effect when the first 2 or 3 dancers have been voted out

Weren't the winners of SCD 1&2 the best dancers?

The best non dancer of the whole of series 1,2,3 and 4 for me was Colin Jackson. Quite superb. But Erin is a great teacher.

James and Camilla did some really good ballroom dances, I even remember his cha cha and he looked very light on his feet. Rumba was tragic.
But his crying used to get on my nerves. Kind of pitiful really.

Don't forget the Cutlers! 4 times British closed champions (well Matthew 4 Nicole 3), Professional world Masters Champs, Pro Vice European champs, finalists in every major world final for 3 years, Amateur undefeated world, european, international, british, UK champions. (So sorry I'm a big fan so just couldn't resist pointing out their achievements - they're incredible!)

You're right though Vincent and Flavia have also had fantastic success in both ten dance and Argentine Tango - they really are wonderful! At the beginning I really didn't like his whole Loverman act, but it calmed down a bit and he then really grew on me! I think the support he gave Louisa was so lovely - he seems a really genuinely nice guy!
