Dratted Double Play button
ByTheCringe
14-12-2006
Am I the only one who, at least once every day, while playing back a recording, wants to pause the recording, or go to a different part of it and, by mistake, presses the Play button, and of course goes right back to the beginning, with no idea how far I was through it?

This is driving me mad, and causes more bad language to be uttered than I dreamt possible!

Perhaps they should make it 3 presses to go back to the start...

This happens to me also. Perhaps once every six months

I have done that a few times and whilst it is an irritation, the worst one is hitting a channel up/down or the swap button and thereby losing the buffer.

Yes that would be worse; I never watch live, so I dn't get that.

Over Christmas, I may program my universal remote to stop the problem.

I have a similar problem; What I tend to do a lot is, when I have a program paused, I press play. Now sometimes my hummy is a bit slow to respond to this, and I think it may have missed it (e.g. perhaps because the remote was pointing the wrong way, as can happen with remotes), so I press it again.....with the same unfortunate result.

The solution to this would be for two play presses to not restart the recording, or to make it more responsive to the original press.

(Hmm, I guess I could also use the pause button to un-pause).

Maybe a future update could automatically insert a "Bookmark" command before it rewinds to the start. This would provide an easy way to "undo".
