DVR 440/Guideplus/Sky

Hi can anyone advise? I have a Sky Digibox - Pace DS440N and no analogue input.

When setting up Guideplus when it comes to checking it works o.k it asks if the picture has changed to channel 101, the picture changes but to channel 110. Will this be problem? will that mean the system can't change to the correct channels.

When it came to the set up if I identify Sky as my satellite provider it then asks for makeof my reciever giving options only of Sky Digital which I picked.

I noticed though if I didn't identify sky as satellite but just chose other satellite there was an option of choosing make of reciever i.e Pace, though tried that and codes didn't change picture at all.

Any one else with the same set up can advise as to how that got it to work properly. I know it can as I bought the machine on the strength of a review on amazon saying how great it was that it could 'talk' to the skybox, though it didn't say which model of sky box.

Strange that - you'd have thought that if it got the first digit 1 correct then it would have got the second correct too! I can only say it all worked for me, although I don't have exactly the same equipment (Pioneer 630 and Pace BSKYB2000 I think). Has the infra-red dongle got a clear line of sight to the box's remote control window? And have you tried the same setup several times?

When you specify Sky, it doesn't give you a list of makes as al the different makes of Sky box are identical when it comes to the remote control codes.

Thanks, I'll give it fiddle and see what I can do.

Well no matter how I do it it sends it to 110 every time. Which meant it sent it to the wrong channel instead of Eurosport last night and the Guideplus hasn't loaded

However if I can work out how it's doing it i.e if it's just the last 2 digits being swapped then I can go change my program numbers and then it should work. I've set a videoplus recording to test it out.

I'll have to watch the snooker on eurosport this afternoon and hope the guideplus manages to load some more.

No one else got this problem?

Great, it just changes to 110 no matter what channel I set it on!

The setup procedure will have a hardcoded channel number in, as at that point it hasn't got a channel list. And on that subject, how have you managed to change the channel number if GuidePlus hasn't loaded?

I videoplussed a recording on both ch5 and ch4 and both times when the DVDR fired up to record it changed the t.v channel to 110.

I have channel lists as when set it up yesterday it EPG'd yesterday afternoon on Eurosport and formed the lists. I just have no content in them as it tuned in to wrong channel when left to it's own devices last night.

Unfortunately my plan on Eurosporting this afternoon has fallen through due to children breaking up early from school and not entertaining watching the snooker!

I've disabled the external link in Guideplus so it won't go changing the channel during the night, if I leave the digibox on Eurosport tonight I presume it will sort itself out but that still won't fix the problem of it turning to the wrong channels.

I don't have Sky; I have Telewest, but I found that when I first set it up it wouldn't control the box until it downloaded overnight. Then it had additional codes for controlling boxes. Perhaps you should try setting up the box again now that you've managed to download.

Good luck!

Grr that plan didn't work, if I don't have any external reciever settings the DVDR doesn't know to look there for Eurosport as it thinks it's on a D.T. Been fiddling more with the infra red dongle thing and it has sporadically changed to the correct channells when scrolling down the list. But nothing consistent, scroll back up to one it got before and get's it wrong next time, though it isn't all 110 as it appeared yesterday, it sent BBC2 to 112.

Starting to get really frustrated! Could it be a scart problem not sending right messages? Or have I got a dodgy DVDR?

On set up isn't there two difference sky box settings. Doesn't it ask you to check the first then the second one?

No on set up there is a choice of sky digital or sky +, I don't have sky + so opt for sky didital where you have a choice of reciever sky digital or none.

Any how have been back again for a fiddle and after many many repositionings of the dongle thing, same place just fractions back and forward I have finally got it to work However seeing as it is soooo sensitive I'm now terrified I've repositioned it so often there's no stick left on the pad and it could slip of it's delicately balanced position at any moment. Am of to find some tape to make it very very secure, it's taken me three days to get this far!

A/ as someone has already mentioned, sometimes you have to make the 1st download before you get some of the digibox settings (chicken and egg but just leave it E/Sport overnight)

B/ It doesn't always associate the correct digbox with the correct service - You might need to choose 'other service' (not sky), choose a digibox from 100's listed that works (changes channel properly) and set the channel numbers manually
