Looking forward to this.

NBC have announced some new changes for this series. Now the losing teams must sleep outside in tents. Seems very rich side/poor side BB3 and a bit pointless IMO.

The winning project manager will now stay on until they lose. This will have a huge impact on the game IMO, as Trump places a lot of emphasis on people's records as PM. It may stop Trump from automatically firing the losing PM every week as well. Also the winning PM will sit in on the board room and advise Trump who to fire

But surely if they can't be fired till they lose, then we will get winning PMs not wanting to be PM again in the series.

I'm looking forward to it as well, but I can't help but think that it will be a bit disasterous. It sounds like they haven't picked very good candidates this year

SPOILERS AHEAD !!!!(for those who wish to wait until the BBC shows it in 2010 and don't want the first episode ruined)

Just finished watching the first episode. (Please PM me if you have any questions regarding this )

The twists breath some life back into the shows format. Hard to judge them on the first task, but as the show goes on they have the potential of causing added friction.

The idea of the "haves and have-nots" is probably a good move. Although it could be argued that the situation the "have-nots" find themselves in, is "rather pleasant" .

The winning project manager staying in the role, is something I'm not to sure about. I prefer seeing how others take on (....sorry "step up to ") the PM role. There is an obvious issue of a PM becoming favorite to win if he/she is on a winning run, how his/her team react to that would be interesting.

In terms of this weeks loser, I think we have a demonstration of "first impressions count"

As ever, the show is filled with overdubs, acting and mischievous edits, to make the show as honest as a wrestling match.

Apart from Trump himself, there were not product placements in this weeks show. Given the criticism it has received regarding the previous series being one huge weekly advert, I wonder if the makers have toned that side down?

Anyone know when this will be on in the UK and what channel?

most likely mid 2009, on bbc 2 or bbc 3.

the next season is season 4, which will be aired probably in august this year. this is season 6, so it'll be two years on from that.

Spoiler

I was quite impressed with the opening to the series, however Trumps daughter is very very bitchy, with little to back up what she is bitching about. Its a shame he felt the need to dump Carolin in favour of her.

I am guessing George has also been shown the door, but it maybe that he just stayed in New York.

I don't think the winning PM goes to the boardroom idea has been thought out, as they are always going to lobby for the strongest person to go home.

overall good start to the season

Spoiler
I agree with everyone else. The only good point from the project leader going into the boadroom would be to 'sway' donalds mind, which I believe would be very hard to do. They don't really serve much purpose as they want the opposite to Donald...
I liked the first episode overall, but I hate all the cheesy little edits and scenes of LA... looks soo fake haha

I don't know why you're using the spoiler tags.. But anyways..

Spoiler
Since watching the most recent Apprentice USA what was on BBC2, there was that whole Miss USA/Donald Trump/Rosie O'Donnel (?) thingy.. And my opinion of him really went down.. Why anybody would want to work for him, I don't know.. And then I watch the first episode of this, and it's terrible! I mean, it opens with him on the phone to his (extremely young) wife and baby.. Which is just cringy. And seriously, is anyone buying into the whole "family man" crap?

Then before the titles, he's there standing next to her (his wife) and you really need to see her face.. It's quite scary (no expression) and shocking since he also has a teenage daughter, who looks the same age as her!

Anyways, the episode was alright, but then I watched it more because of the task and watching how they deal with it and so on.. But then making it out to seem that living in tents was terrible was just lame..

As I huge Apprentice fan, I found it all very disappointing. They reacted to declining ratings with the changes, but the changes have taken over the main point of the show (i.e. the task). For an episode that was one hour, we only saw about 25-30 mins of the task!!!

I really don't like the have and have nots angle. In business you wouldn't be forced to sleep in a tent if you lose or fail!! Although building the tent at the beginning was quite neat, and highlighted the 2 candidates for PM.

I liked Ivanka last series, but for whatever reason she was really going after Martin. No other board room judge was a vociferous as her about firing someone, and Trump has the audacity to fire Carolyn?! I think Frank should have gone for being a terrible leader and far too manic. I liked the winning PM in the board room twist, although I would like to have seen a 2nd normal judge (Don Jr, Bill, or another winner)

grr, this is annoying! i've been downloading since monday, but my computer has crashed so much, and this premiere is extra long...

at 72% right now...

have managed to avoid reading this thread, i'm not going to spoil myself!!

okay, just watched it!

enjoyed the show a lot, the show has an incredibly different feel to it, in fact, i hadn't actually thought it would be SO different.

it's good, but it'll take some getting used to.

plenty of great characters, and i love the tent twist...pm01, i agree that people wouldn't be forced to sleep in tents, but i think it's just to highlight how important winning is, and how extreme the consequences of losing could be. (eg, financial ruin). normally, it's just that they go back to the five star suite, and one of them gets fired. it's all about motivation.

ivanka is hard to tell apart from the candidates at times, but i do like her, to some degree.

*LOL* at heidi trying to be 'bitchy' in the board room at the end. i think she's a sweetie, it doesn't suit her.

at the end of the day, i think the right person went. both frank and martin were crap at the task, but martin's conduct wasn't something that would really serve him well. frank had the spirit. although his reaction to martin's being fired was insanely insensitive.

eye candy watch
personally, i'm disappointed with the lack of eye candy this season. the only two that had potential were aaron and tim, but only in certain lights.

Lack of eyecandy aside, I thought it was an okay start to the season, but wish they would have devoted more screen-time to the task, and a bit less to the boardroom, which dragged on a bit!

I'm reserving judgement on the new twists because I'd like to see how they play out first. I'm skeptical about letting the winning PM sit in the boardroom though, because I'm not sure what kind of insight they can offer, and they are obviously at cross-purposes to Trump.

Obviously way too early to choose a favourite right now, but I always like to pick at least one from seeing the first ep, just to see if I pick a winner. This season I picked Aimee.

Also, I can't stand Trump. Everything he says is completely inane - "I like you, but you might get fired!" And don't get me started on that trophie wife of his...

Episode 2 was sort of "okay", nothing particularly stands out (just as well considering the task). The right person got fired in my view although they were all equally foolish in allowing that design to go through.

So far haven't felt interested in any of the contestants, they all seem a little bit wooden to me.
