Upgraded to 1.10 and now unable to copy files from the Humax over the USB. Select a file for transfer and the Elinker software immediately reports that the upload failed. Tried rebooting both the Humax and the PC. Has anyone successfully made a USB transfer since upgrading to 1.10?

It has been tested. I've done it with MediaController.

I used to get this error with older firmware until phew wrote 9200TReadFiles

It is a USB/eLinker/PC/Humax problem... where to start to solve this problem... umm...

exactly...where to start son_t...

We've seen reports here in the past were someones used elinker and then another time tried to use it again but not work - when seemingly nothing has changed.

I put elinker through it to make sure it still works OK with .10 software with same results in quality and speed as with versions before.

You could trouble shoot it, or you could try uninstalling it and trying again(tricky as the uninstaller isnt up to much, but now explained quite well here: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=478214) or as elinker isnt 100% try one of the better alternatives from Andy Chapman or smudger9200t.

Yep, I transferred a recording to PC last night and am on 1.10. It was the first time I have tried doing this and it worked just like it should. No errors or corrupted files

Now all I have to do is find the best free program for editing out the adverts, before I burn it to disk. Any suggestions?

Yup (apart from the usual corruption!) Just a thought I never did install media e-linker from the CD, just the version from the web site (2.1)

Thank you for your suggestions. I re-installed E-Linker and then tried Media Controller (and HumaxGUI) and it just doesn't work. I can see all the files on the Humax but I am unable to download them.

I had no problems with E-Linker before I upgraded to 1.10 so I reckon there is a problem with this 'upgrade'. I'll try reverting back to 1.06 and see what happens.

Try VideoRedo.

I haven't had any problems transferring with .06, .08, or .10. If you can see the recordings on the Humax then it's probably not the Humax STB drivers. Have you got anything new plugged into any of your other USB sockets?

I downloaded the trial (it costs $50) but can't figure out how to use it. I have 'cut' the adverts out but they are still there, just highlighted in red. I can't work out what you do next and the help file is next to useless

I have videoredo,
after you have edited you then have to press the cut selection button and then press save as button. This will save the edited recording marked 02 after the name of your recording.

I went back to 1.06 and the USB transfer is working again. There is something wrong with 1.10, at least with my set up.

I've tried that. I have five cuts (one for each advert) in the cut list are choosing "cut selection" for each. Each cut in highlighted in red. When I press the save as button the resulting file is the same as the unedited version. Do you think this is a limitation of the trial? Seems a silly limitation to me as I can;t see how good the program is without seeing the final edited file.

Maybe re-loading the firmware was the cure. Try putting .10 on again, and then a reset to default settings. Also did you do the elinker uninstall or the more complicated method I linked to earlier (it looks a bit more complicated but its more thorough). If it still doesnt work then use one of the elinker alternatives may do the trick; they are better and the whole PVR USB transfer side of things on the hummy, especially with elinker isnt 100%.

Yes, I'm going to try that after I've archived what I want while I'm back on 1.06. Thanks for your suggestions.

sdesign,
are you pressing cut selection for each edit as you go and then finally save as, which is what you should do.
I don't recall any restrictions during the trial period.

I think this just serves to confirm that the USB is a very unreliable implementation and need sorting properly.

sdesign,
I found this videoredo site. It seems that there are limitations, but it seems that you can get the full license key within the trial period, which will allow full operation.
Hope this helps.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. After choosing to cut selection it highlights the section in red. But choosing save as just creates a copy of the original file.

Thanks for the tip. I obtained the full license key (as above) and tried again. Still no joy

sdesign,
I can't understand why this is not working. Are you sure the key has activated ok?

If you run VideoRedo and click Help -> Enter software key then the message box that opens should say "Registered user, no expiration" if your key has "taken", otherwise it should tell you when your evaluation expires. The latest version of VideoRedo is 2.5.3.501 and you can check this under "Help -> About VideoRedo"

Edit - Sorry but on rereading I think I have misunderstood the type of key that you have. If it is a fully paid for key then it is as I have said above, if it is a "full trial key" then it should still give you the expiry details.

How much will it cost to change.

How many will it benefit.

ROI? .... nothing.

It works for the vast majority with no problems.

The sooner Humax release their new version of e-linker the better, i.e. the bits that shouldn't be there turned off ... so this endless pointless prattle can finish.

Of course, they could just decide that video transfer is one of the "bits that shouldn't be there". After all, eLinker was originally intended to allow transfer of mp3 and jpeg files. The idea of copying video files was a bit of an afterthought.

What would you say are the "bits that shouldn't be there", wgmorg?

Who says it was an afterthought ... forum ... hearsay ... rumour ... myth.

My 9200T came with a disk with e-linker on it and nothing to direct customers not to use it... By this action Humax fully authorised their customers to use e-linker for .ts files.

SHOULDN'T BE THERE mfmf...

Renaming .ts files from inside e-linker.... results in corruption.

Allowing people to transfer .ts files onto the 9200T using e-linker... results in corruption.

It is the full trial key, and it is definately registered.

Just for the record my USB transfer seems to be more reliable under version 1.10. It used to frequently transfer the wrong files, occasionally even a file I had deleted and sometimes it would transfer what was in the buffer. Usually corrected by powering down for a while and rebooting. Since upgrading - no problems altho still a bit slow! Incidently using media - controller (NOT e-linker) to a Samsung laptop using stadard USB cable.
