I did the twin upgrade on my box and it now does not work. It does not get past the disk check.

I have upgraded 2 other boxes in the family before this one so I know that I have the correct process and file. I am assuming that the Hard Drive has failed but just seems such a coincidence that this should happen as I do the upgrade.

I subequently tried the 4.9 upgrade but with the same result.

Any ideas anybody? Is there a way to bypass the disk check so I can format the drive?

Unless anyone knows of an engineers "shortcut", I'd be inclined to put on your best poker face and take it back under guarantee.

How long did you leave it disk checking? I have known it to take 10 mins sometimes if you power off whilst recording

Many thanks for pointing this out to me
Unfotunately it did not resolve my problem so it now looks like I have a totally useless door stop.

Sorry to hear it didn't work. If you know someone who is handy with computers, you could remove the Hard Drive and ask them to FDISK it.

I have no idea what sort of formatting or file system the disk needs but, if it sees a totally "flat" drive after an FDISK, it may recover. Could be worth a try.

I've put a few photos of inside the box, here - http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/vestel/digihome.htm - so you could see what to expect in advance!

John.
Thank you so much. I decided I had nothing to loose and gave it a try.
I formatted with NTFS file system and then when back in the box I did the reset by holding OK when pluging it in. The box itself then reformatted it again and all is well.

Thanks again to all who helped.
