Just caught up with this from tonights show.
What a Classic
Ant and Dec's "audition" was appallingly realistic. The look on Simon's face was one of sheer boredom and "why do these freaks bother wasting my time" The idea of singing a Paula Abdul track was inspired. They murdered it.
At least we know from Pop Idol that Simon can laugh at himself, and the slow dawning that the "brothers" were none other than Ant and Dec was a telly moment of sheer brilliance.
I thought his appearance on the show tonight together with Little Simon Cowell ( with appropriate trousers) was hilarious.
Thank goodness for A+D. They have a rare talent for light entertainment.

Anyone else see it?

Hi Tally

Strange one this.

I've never seen either American Idol or Pop Idol and I don't really watch Ant & Dec, apart from I'm A Celeb.

But tonight as I often do I had the telly on with the sound down and was listening to the radio whilst playing on the internet ( I know, get a life !! )

Anyway I glanced at the telly, saw Ant & Dec dressing up as Hippies or whatever and it grabbed my interest as an old hippie myself, so I turned the sound up and watched it.

It was hilarious wasn't it ?

Little Simon telling his joke about the lawyer and the songwriter !!

Just to add the strangeness I've never been on this forum before either ( bit boring tonight over at BB )

Ah well, I still won't be watching American Idol, so I guess I'll see you over at BB

I hope so Swing. I need your backup to keep the Alex brigade at bay!!

As a Pop/American Idol fanatic, the "joke" was an actual put down to one Minnesotan lass during American Idol 1, You had to Listen to her to realise just how true Si's putdown was.

Oh Spanky! Was it because you were feeling rough yesterday?
I dont think they repeat Saturday Night Takeaway, but I'm sure its going to end up on one of those 100 greatest progs that C4 are so fond of. Mind, you'll probably have to wait quite a while.

will def have to keep any eye out for any clips of it in the near future on C4 then. unless ant and dec have got a website for the show and it might be on there........

I agree - it was great t.v. The look on Simon's face as the truth dawned on him was classic.

I taped it - anyone want the video? No charge - I get them free for work. Let me know if interested.

Hi fruitie - no, you're not too late. Was talking about it with a friend last night and we found ourselves replaying the whole scene inbetween giggling like a couple of *****. Think it will definitely be on the 100 Best TV Moments for this year.

(Sorry, had my PM option turned off - have turned it on now if you want to get in contact).

As much as I love Ant & Dec and all the hype leading upto the Simon Cowell 'gotcha', I don't think it was as convincing and great as the previous two.

Yes Simon's face was a classic, but I could tell it was them and was very suprised to see that Simon didn't catch on straight away.

The best one they did was on This Morning when they pretended to have been on German Pop Idol (which was totally made up). The lyrics to the song was the most funniest ever.
Even though I figured it out what was happening after Fern said "Something really......well amazing happened during the ads. We'll show it tomorrow."

Thanks to Jeanie I sat down and watched this this morning before coming to work. Very very funny. Simon's face was funnier in the studio watching it back than it was when they were 'performing' in front of him. Very good boys.
