DVD sound problem?
Hi, I bought an ex demo Panasonic Rv32 DVD for my bedroom portable. However it has a problem were the volume is set a lot lower than the rest of the channels. Can't find any setting for the volume, only effects, i.e. cinema sound etc. The portable volume on the AV is ok with the VCR & Nokia DTT STB also connected. The TV has a single scart so I connect via a manual 3-1 scart switch. Is it a bad connection? I've tried different scarts etc. Also direct connection bypassing the switch. Any ideas or is it back to the shop?

I think this is just normal to be honest. At least, I have always experienced this. I don't think that there is anything wrong with the player or tv, I just think that dvd's are recorded at a much lower volume than say a regular tv broadcast. Not sure why is this, but someone on this forum is bound to know

My Sony dvd player's output is lower than for the rest of the equipment, we just turn the amp up higher.

Make sure that you have the DVD audio settings at 2 channel PCM and not in one of the surround settings.
I was called to fix a friend's DVD "because we can hear the music and sound effects on the film, but not the voices..." And that's exactly what was wrong - audio was set to 5.1, but fed into two phono leads... |
