Does anyone know any background on Paul Killick? He was my favourite pro dancer in SCD1. Then he went out early in SCD2 and I've never seen anything of him at all since.

Presumely he didn't want to do SCD anymore. But was there a reason. Anyone know any gossip?

I think he's opened his own dance school and so was too busy with that - haven't heard of any other reason.
Here's the link to his site:

This young guy drove me MAD week after week. Named him "The Plank", which was quite fitting. Wasn't his fault, it was his army of dumb bimbo birds who kept saving his skin each week.

He got right up to the final, which was terribly annoying and quite ridiculous. The outcome was obvious of course: no way, even with his bimbo followers, could he actually WIN anything. He was hopeless. Even old Jimmy Tarbuck would have given a better performance! And that's saying something.

He was on his way out of EastEnders at that time; he then had some sort of nervous breakdown and we've seen nothing of him since. Did he go to Australia? Not sure, but I think he was reported to be emigrating.

He did have a breakdown of sorts in late 2004 - a girl claimed that he'd paid her to release a fake kiss and tell story so that people wouldn't think he was gay, and he tried to committ suicide.

He's a presenter now, and still over here.

The first series was great, I think because it didn't go on for as long and no one took it as seriously.

As far as I can remember, apart from Natasha, there was only Lesley and Claire (Sweeney) who were decent dancers, so Chris had a fairly easy ride

"Chariots" wasn't too bad - in an Emmitt Smith/ Peter S way - he could be pretty light on his feet in certain dances..... and he came 4th.....

The first series was great, pure fun! Chris was an atrocious dancer but oh so entertaining. And didn't have an emotional breakdown despite being mauled continuously by the judges.

Series one was just ... fun!
No one knew what to expect, it was supposed to be a one off.
Obviously, less couples and a shorter run - and even though the celebs trained hard, I don't think they could match any of the ones from later series - and certainly not this one - for the quanity of hours trained.

Not keen on Natasha/Brendon - but really liked Lesley/Anton - even given Lesley's terminally irritating habit of breaking in to 'La's' at random moments.

The second week was an unmitigated disaster - they did a rumba and Carol was trying to be sexy and it just didn't work! They got slated by the judges (Even Esther Rantzen's "dance of Desperation" was way better) Carol was voted off but it apparently turned into a real catfight with Arlene which apparently had all started in the Make up room where Carol thinks Arlene thought she(C) was laughing at her getting the slap trowelled on.

Carol wrote a 2 page article in the Daily Mail about it - saying that Arlene had in in for her from that moment and that's where the Sharon Osbourne comment came from. Carol didn't come oout of it very well - Arlene maintained a dignified silence and Carol eventually realised the reason she got voted off was that she was so bad - in the rumba at least ..... shame really ' cos no-one apart from Colin has EVER nailed the rumba - and Carol's waltz was lovely (illegal moves and all)”

Didn't she also claim that she had a pulled muscle and therefore couldn't dance the rhumba properly, with a rumour that she was blaming the bbc for having not been properly trained (because lets be honest, what does Paul Killick really know about dance training )? And when she didn't appear in the final she said it was due to a family party that she had committed to prior to committing to the show and couldn't get out of ~ well, err, what would have happened *if* she had got to the final, eh? Would she have thrown the title because she couldn't get out of her party commitments?

I've never liked Vorderman since SCD (wasn't a raving fan beforehand, of course, but was fairly neutral about her): the ungracious way she refused to accept her defeat was pathetic, as is her continued refusal to acknowledge it ever happened. It's made me determined that if I ever met her (heaven forfend!) I would make a point of bringing it up just to rile her. Silly bitter baggage!

Anyway - the judges really ripped into him saying the most apalling things yet he just bounced back to do it all over again. He always seemed genuinely shocked at hearing the results!

Hannah was brilliant. She defended him to the hilt and never said he was anything less than wonderful. I applaud the guy for having the guts to do what he did every week. that took guts.

This is a good interview with both Chris and Hannah

And I found this clip of him (and a few others) on 2004 Sport Relief. Just watch out for the flapping steps he does behind Hannah about three quarters of the way in. Classic Chris!

Yeah, because a pulled muscle made her pull that face, the face that still haunts me in my nightmares

ahhh series one was the best!...the celebs were so unprepared! and they didnt do half the amount of hour that they do now...i wish they had have done then they would be more comparable to more recent competitors...
i personally loved natasha and brendan...they seemed to have a dreaminess about them when they dance...IMO the best chemistry out of all the SCD's
Chris Parker was awful bless him...made for great TV though...and hanna was amazing

Yes that was soooo horrible, and you saw Carol herself thinking that she looked so hot ,desireble and sexy with those faces. I think the GBP even found it worse than the judges. You heard all the time jokes about her.

yes well it was like the first time she'd lost the weight and turned up somewhere in a strapless turquoise dress that would have looked too much on a 20 year old stunna!

Nah the turquoise disaster was at some showbiz party - micromini and starpless and she had the new bird's nest hairdo as well!

The rumba dress WAS flesh coloured! Uurrrrggggghhhhhh!

Not quite. She allegedly pulled the muscle at the end of the Rumba as performed on the night. Killick put her into the drop and she did the damage when she stretched into it. Mustn't have been warmed up properly.

You know at the time and even rewatching it it wasn't THAT bad. She really went for some of the poses, albeit sometimes with a little too much gusto.
I think Fiona's redundant rumba was alot more cringeworthy because she looked so bored and clumsy.

The costume was awful. The designers must be used to dressing the tiny female dancers. They made Mica look terrible as well.

Does anyone have that Chris Paso Doble that they could upload to YouTube? I didn't watch the first series, and it has been mentioned quite regularly over the past 3 series that I would love to see it in it's entirety...

Aw that poor boy . He was so bad he was brilliant . The look on the judges face every time he got through were priceless. Like everything else as the first series it was the best IMO. There was a kind of innocence about it. While I still love it the over competitivness spoils it .

And the bookies declaring favourites before we even see a toe on the floor annoys me.
