The comments affect his family eh? Well he really should have thought about that before he went on the show, where he knows he will be open to all sorts of criticism.

I think there's too much sensitivity on this forum and some people take everything to heart.

And Matt did have the sex appeal of a gnat when he was doing that dance, or any sexy dance. A lot of us agreed with Arlene. Well done to her.

And winenroses, can I just ask you, if you are so sensitive about remarks made against Matt's dancing why on earth do you watch the show? You know what Arlene and Craig are like. If you can't take any negative comments about his dancing, however personal you say they are, I honestly don't understand why you watch it. Just enjoy the show and don't take everything to heart. Just my advice.

I watch the show because I love it: the spectacle of the dance, the costumes, the glamour; it is the light entertainment show on a Saturday night. And I don't actually support Matt and never have. So I don't take it to heart, as such, but I don't appreciate certain aspects, as stated. I like fairness, towards Emma, towards everyone. Nothing wrong with that.

Comments such as calling Matt a gnat are ridiculous, imo, because it's not as if they have any real relation to dancing. Judges should comment on the dancing and the performance, yes, but the gnat comment did not make Arlene look good.
You think Arlene should be commended for insulting someone on television? That's not very humane, really, and is not necessary. We know she likes Mark because of his looks, but it shouldn't be brought into everything.

Arlene likes Mark for his looks and his dancing too. A lot of women would agree with her on that. He has got both.

The gnat remark was to do with his dancing. I think personally she was being polite. He did get off rather lightly.

The comment didn't make Arlene look good? Well she's still very popular and will be invited back next year, that's for sure. We all love the insults, that's why Simon Cowell's so popular.

You say its not very humane of Arlene to insult Matt by comparing his dancing to a gnat. Well, to me there's suffering going on all over the world, people are being tortured, people being killed in Iraq, South Africa, South America and in this country all the time etc. etc. etc. That's not humane. Calling someone a gnat for his dancing is nothing compared to all the attrocity going on in the world. That is inhumane. What I'm trying to get you to see is that its a light hearted programme, why are you taking everything so seriously?


Anyone going on this show is putting themself up for criticism and ridicule and everything else involved. Matt obviously needs the publicity which is why he went on the show, and all the other BBC shows, the cookery show, Question of Sport etc.

Talking of which, I think the BBC are actually biased now towards Matt. Maybe I should start another thread!

I was watching the 1,000 episodes of the weakest link thingy and who popped up - Matt! I think he gets off on being on TV in this sort of non-sporting capacty so Arlene's comments are probably water off a dog's back.

Anne Robinson: "Oh, so you call yourself a dancer now, do you? You've come on a journey, have you? Tell me, what does it feel like to have the sex appeal of a gnat? I would have thought that jug ears were bad enough!"
