I was biased towards Emma's cos they used the music from the scene in Shall We Dance which has me a little flushed every time...

I think once you have a certain picture in your mind of what the dance might look like its hard to be objective. I have to say (and I know a certain SCD chum of mine is going to beat me about the face with a wet fish) that I thought Mark's was marginally more sexy than Matt's.

I thought it was fantastic. On viewing it a second time on Sunday, I did think that it was cleverly choreographed to disguise the fact that Karen did most of the clever footwork, and Mark very little, whereas in Matt and Lilia's that fact was difficult to disguise. But they all had a very short time to rehearse this difficult dance and all did well imo, and I think the overall effect of Mark and Karen's dance was stunning.

It is the lady who does most of the clever footwork ;whilst the man does the sandwices etc ,she does the leg decorations .
I don't think any of them could have been expected to do too many Kicks between the legs !!
Watching vincent is of course a different matter , but the man does seem to do a lot of lifting and supporting .
I go back to my previous point, Vincent and Flavia helped with some of the moves for Mark and Karen and also picked them out as the best , who are we to argue , he is the Tango king .

It has been said on another thread it at times felt like we were watching them when we really shouldn't have been!

Well watching the AT's last week was a new experience for me. I know absolutely nothing about the technical aspects of Argentine Tango, apart from some basic footwork, so I was able to watch all three routines for entertainment value alone. Very refreshing!

Emma and Darren - routine lovely but there was no fire and her kicks could have been sharper. They didn't stalk and the overall feeling was quite soft. She didn't look like she wanted to jump on him!

Matt and Lilia - better, mostly down to Lilia's legs! But there wasn't much passion between them even though they did maintain eye contact. It appeared very formal although I did like the move where they both bent their legs and separated whilst in hold, then came back together.

Mark and Karen - wonderful! There was intensity between them, phenomenal body contact, strong performance from Mark and they looked as if they wanted to eat each other! It was stunningly controlled with wonderful economy of movement above the waist, but tons going on below. Great stuff and I hope this makes a re-appearance in the final.

Vincent and Flavia made a point about this , everything in the legs and very controlled above , whether in very close chin to chin or in a wider hold .

I thought that Mark and Karen had the simplist choreography - but I quite liked that - because they acted it! The eye contact was incredible and I thought they did a fantastic job! I haven't liked all their dances - especially the ball room! I always think their a bit hit and miss - either FANTASTIC (AT and Salsa!) or boring (many of the ballroom - although I find many of the ballroom dances less interesting anyway!).

I loved the AT and wish it was longer!

I thought Mark & Karen's AT was absolutely fantastic. It still makes me tingle when watching The chemistry , body/, eye contact between them is simply sensational

Nooo - you're not totally alone! I enjoyed the dance but it didn't "make me lose all perspective" to quote a certain ga-ga-eyed lady-judge.
And now I'm worried for the final! Traditionally, couples pick the dances they got the best scores in and reprise those. And I'd rather see Mark dance one of his "fun numbers" like his salsa - which, for me, was one of the dances of the series.
But I guess it just comes down to personal preference. I think I'd prefer leaping around on the dancefloor, shaking me bazooms than getting all serious and sweaty and passionate (I wouldn't know where to look!) which is probably why I'd pick the salsa over the AT any day.

Where DOES all this simple choreography thing come from ?does no one believe anything len says anymore ?

Karen has said all along mark makes it look easy most of the time , because he puts in the practice .He performs it , that is the difference .

I think his Tango received a score of 32 so it will be interesting to see if he improves on that.

I think the Tango was marked down because he didn't act it, after last week we know he has that bit nailed down!

Just to add my two cents - I loved the AT overall, the performance and the drama/passion of it, but there were moments I wasn't keen on. I'm not thus far that fussed about watching AT - seems to me like something that's more satisfying to dance than watch? And the aspects of it I didn't like were I think ATish aspects. But I thought that they danced the steps well and that the overall drama and effect of the routine was amazing. If this makes any sense at all??!

I read elsewhere that each couple will dance five dances including a showdance. If this is true, then there may well be room for the AT AND the Salsa you enjoyed.

I know what you mean, and if you look at the pics of their AT you'll see that they are each looking at the others mouth. This avoids the embarassment of having to gaze into someones eyes plus it really does give the impression that they want to jump on each other, which was essential for the dance. It was only occasionally that they made eye contact.
