Loading .10 into new machine

Sorry to keep labouring points, but this forum is incredibly helpful.

When I unwrap my new 9200 (well, when I unwrap what I hope will be my new 9200) on Christmas morning, I'd want to install version .10 straightaway before crawling all over the living-room floor with cables & aerials & SCARTS.

Will I be able to plug it straight into my PC without doing any kind of setup on the TV first, or I should I get it working and then do the sw upgrade?

Actually, I think I've just answered my question. It doesn't make sense not to check it out first. I was trying to avoid the hassle of cabling it all up in the living-room and then unplugging, but of course any old TV will do for a start, and I can play with the one in the kitchen.

Yes, I would check to make sure it works before updating.

My sister is getting a 9200T for her Christmas and I was asked to put the latest software on it (so that she has an up-to-date machine on Christmas morning), but I made sure it actually worked before doing the upgrade.

Although, I haven't checked to make sure it's still working...might be an idea to do that!

Many thanks. Wish her a merry Christmas from me.

The other thing, of course, is that it's probably not a good idea to try out the box right in the middle of the peak video recording season, so I'll probably stick to my VCR and DVD HDD recorder setup until the dust settles, and use the 9200 for practice.

Well...there's no harm in still marking all your programmes on the box, but keeping your other devices as backups. That's what I did last Christmas when I got a DVD recorder. (The DVD-R worked perfectly!)
