I know people are not a fan of his latter work but he really was a good allrounder in his early days and an established broadcaster

I was a regular listener to him when he used to do overnights around the 1999-2000 era. Sad loss to the Broadcasting Arena.

Never nice to hear of the death of a fellow radio person, whether you agreed with their on-air views or not.

Rest in peace.

Totally agree, as I said last week, I don't think the last few months have been his best work but he was still one of the Top Ten best phone-in presenters in the country.

I'm feel very sad and shocked after hearing the news. Even more sad it's happened so close to Christmas, my thoughts go out to his family who he cleared adored and I have a feeling they felt the same.

RIP Mike.

How did he die? Was he ill? He sounded like he smoked a lot.

James Whale just mentioned something about a "car crash" but didn't know any more.

At a time when Talksport needs a large dose of class and character - this happens.

Mostly I didn't agree with his views, but no matter, he had style. People like him are few and far between in dumbed-down radio.

RIP Mike Dickin.

Oh how sad. I used to like listening to Mike when he was on Talksport between 10-1, even if you didn't agree with him - it was great entertainment.

We all love Mike's Dickin

Indeed, I think it's safe to say that he will be sorely missed as he's always been good entertainment when he's been on. My thoughts are with his family. RIP Mike.

Nice trubute from Bill Ridley... He just read out Mike's Wikipedia page during the news, passing it off as his own heart felt 'tribute'!

I'm not sure it was all even accurate.

I'll miss Mike Dickin, and what a shock to his family for Yuletide.

Terrible news... what a tragic a way to go and such a loss to broadcasting!

RIP Mike - you will be missed!

Talksport have just announced that from 10pm on Thursday, James Whale, will be using his show to pay tribute to him...

I thought it was his Wikipedia page which I think is inaccurate but I'm sure the fact his on-air tribute was partally incorrect would appeal to his sense of humour.

Heard a bit of H&J reading out tributes and one person said she asked for him to send him a photo so he sent one back of a gorilla.

Well that has shocked me very much.

Mr Dickin was a fantastic broadcaster my favourite moment of his talksport career was when Princess Diana died and he had to break the news which if i remember rightly won him a Sony award

RIP 'My Health is not in question'

Truely gutted. I had hoped to one day hear him back on daytimes. Ironic that he finished by doing one show about god with Richard Dawkins and said that he thought it would just be the end when he died, and the other show about the Diana crash. I think this would also appeal to his sense of humour.

I think he said next weeks show was going to be another parking ticket special, and then he'd be off for one week. I thought that was a first since despite having no religious belief he always took a couple of weeks off.

I'll miss his show, particularly some of the guests he had. I don't think anyone else used to have Richard Dawkins on regularly(ish) and while parking tickets and similar unfairness aren't my thing, I imagine a lot of people are infuriated by it all and loved hearing those guests on so often. The good thing about Mike Dickin was that whatever subject he was covering, he would cover it well rather than so many other talk shows where they just give it a very superficial 20 minute slot before moving on to something else.

His kids are probably all home from University for Christmas so you have to feel sorry for them. I hope no one was with him in the car at the time.

I wonder if he was attending a service of remembrance for the lifeboat crew off Cornwall. He knew, or was involved with the service.
