Dunno which episode, but the incident was a drunken Mike throwing up in his boss's office. Afterwards Mike thought "I don't like him much, anyway", and decided to leave said vomit where it was for his boss to find later

I enjoyed the programme and found it interesting that Mike was a Kiki Dee fan and that he used to prang cars he was testing.

Does anyone know why Mike was taken off the the daytime show?

I have listened to James Whale at odd times but don't like him half as much as Mike.

I believe it was suggested that he 'took it easy' as he was suffering from heart problems and had an operation.
He resided in the more quieter period of weekend evenings and used a studio near to his home in Cornwall.
I think it was probably the same health issue that brought on a heart attack at the wheel.

Going to miss the Mike Dickin shows so much, hope they don't replace him with Jon not-so-Gaunt, who isn't fit to lick Mike's boots!. Talk Sport needs to poach Allan Beswick, currently broadcasting on BBC GMR.

Is it a proven fact Mike had a heart attack at the wheel ? - it just seems so hard to find any substantial information surrounding the circumstances of his death.

Tribute to Mike on the LBC website (www.lbc.co.uk) from Chris Lowrie, Head of Imaging at the station.

Can't find the quote but the police have said that he died of natural causes - i.e. he didn't die as a result of the car crash

Halfway through listening to the Mike Dickin Tribute Show hosted by James Whale. For those like me who missed it, you can download it from www.talksport.net

He had a heart operation about a year ago.

Seems his health really was in question.

Peter Deeley is in at LBC this week overnight and paid a glowing tribute to Mike last night saying he only found out when he got a message from a member of LBC management asking him to contact James Whale at talksport if he wanted to take part in the tribute show.

However Peter can't get good mobile reception where he lives so only found out after the show sadly.

Excellent tribute show. Halfway through my second hearing. Any ideas why Steve Allen was never heard, even tho Whale announced twice that he'd be on?

I have to say that I am extremely sorry to learn that Mike Dickin has been killed in a car crash.

It's odd how a radio presenter can become almost part of one's life, but that is how the superb Mike Dickin and his excellent programmes became.

We listened every week to hear Mr Dickin on Talk Sport and took his weekly output for granted. Now he will be greatly missed, there is no-one else quite like him.

For the most part he spoke pure and utter common sense and represented honest hard working folk, standing up against useless and wasteful governments/politicians/authorities and the useless scroungers that drain our society - helped along by his arch enemy, the PC brigade.

This often made for challenging listening, and even if we, or anyone else, disagreed with any particular stand point, it was certainly compulsive and compelling listening.

Mike Dickin is utterly irreplaceable and will be very greatly and sadly missed.

Condolences to his family and colleagues at TalkSport.

Farewell Mr Dickin.

Thanks for all your words.

Mike

By the way, thanks to mcrYNWA for your great TalkSport pages and the interesting audio archives that you have taken the trouble to store for everybody's enjoyment.

It's very valuable.

Do you have any other classic Mike Dickin programmes secretly hidden away somewhere?

I'd love to hear some of his tirades against the yob culture, lawlessness, political correctness and the less than perfect criminal justice system, to name but a few, again.

If you have any other such Dickin classics, will you be able to upload them to your site??

Thanks, Mike

He wasn't killed in a car crash. He had a heart attack whilst driving.

Thanks. I had not read that particular detail. Where was it reported?

Try this (doesn't mention heart attack, but 'natural causes').
