My abiding memory of Mike Dickin will be the 2001 Clash of the Titans when he and James Whale nearly lynched Tommy Boyd, who was in full 'wind-up merchant' mode.

Hilarious!

This came as a massive shock to me when I heard.

My brother got me listening to talkSPORT properly around the time when Mike was on mid-mornings - those shows were definitely his best.

Mike was definitely my favourite talkSPORT presenter and cant believe I wont hear his voice, live on the air, again. My thoughts are with his family, especially so close to christmas.

Extremely sad news.

RIP Mike Dickin - a great loss to Radio.

I started listening to him in around 1991 when he was doing afternoons on LBC. I remember listening to him (on Talk Radio) on the night that Diana died.

Didn't listen to him much on Talksport although strangely enough I downloaded a recent show featuring him and Richard Dawkins last night which reminded me of how good he was. Sad I won't be able to rediscover him now.

Oh man - I was only listening to his programme on Saturday discussing whether God existed or not! Guess he's found out the truth!

A radio legend! RIP Mike - your health was never in question!

God Bless!

Yeah that was a bit lame.

I actually enjoyed listening to him. I disagreed with his views but his show was very entertaining and he knew how to sort the wheat from the chaff in terms of callers.

Mike Dicken, RIP. One of the all-time great radio presenters. He will be missed by many.

Anyone feel it's inapropriate the upbeat-ness of the current football discussions?

I know life goes on and all that, but it feels slightly disrespectful!

****APPOLOGIES - JUST HEARD THEM PAYING TRIBUTE!!!!!!!***

Very sad news. I was never into talk radio until I came across Mike Dickin’s morning show on TalkSport about 5 years ago and absolutely loved it. Even on the rare occasions I didn’t agree with him, I really admired the way he dealt with the topic in question, i.e. to the point and often with great humour.

From speaking to people at his local on Bodmin Moor, it sounds as though he was a real character off-air as well.

He’ll be greatly missed.

What? I love Mike Dickin, how can this be true?

Was it a car crash then?

Poor Mike. RIP, my thoughts are with his family.

Same here, he was the first talk presenter I remember listening to. That was about 15 years ago on LBC

Whether I agreed with his views or not - Mike really was a true radio great - a broadcasting genius.

He will be sorely missed at TalkSport, and my best wishes are with his family and friends at this sad time.

RIP Mike.

His shows were always a good listen, whether you agreed or disagreed with him. Such a shock. My thoughts go out to his family, especially at this time of year.

R.I.P. Mike Dickin - Broadcasting Legend and no, your 'health was never in question'.

I just heard at the end of the news that a radio presenter had died and never caught the name. I just thought 'please don't let it be Johnnie Walker' (who I know has been ill on and off).

I was so shocked when I heard it was the great Cornish Giant of Radio. I can't take it in. Mike Dicken. He was always there, someone you thought was invincible. One of my top ten all time radio presenters and a true radio legend.

If that report about the car crash was Mike, (certainly fits) how horribly ironic that it happened that way - cars and driving being one of his all-time topics and cause of much consternation for him.

How sad never to be able to snuggle in bed, listening to Mike having a rant at some less articulate caller.

My thoughts go out to the Dicken children and his wife.

R.I.P. Mike Dicken. Never forgotten.

RIP Mike, thanks for not taking yourself to seriously and not being afraid to play up to the 'Britain's Angriest Man' charecter used to promote his show in the time I've been aware of his work - it worked so well, some of those trailers were hilarious!

My thoughts are with his family, friends and his colleagues and those who worked him over the years.

Yes, thanks for mentioning about his colleagues, I forgot that. It must be awful to work with such a larger than-life-character and then he's gone. There must be a huge void and a black cloud over at Talksport Towers today.
