Congrats. Someone asked who did the same as me, didn't read the whole thread, so I replied.

Thanks for your clarification that you got there first. You are clearly the bigger man :-s

I'm still so shocked at this. The more I think about it the more I can't believe it.

I edited my post but it didn't reflect the change in the topic title. Sorry if you find this more upsetting then the man's death....

Talk Sport radio presenter Mike Dickin has died in a car crash.

He was dubbed Britains Angriest Man, but I really enjoyed his show. He used to do the morning show, which has been taken over by Jon Gaunt, who is nowhere near as good.

I'll miss him.

He was a bit of a nutter, but he came out with some great stuff

I've listened to Mike for years. I remember his days on Capital Gold and LBC, as well as TalkSport/Radio.
He is an institution. Sorry for the cliche.

i cant believe it. ive just found out via this thread.
he was a grumpy guy but he was also a decent guy too

i was only listening to him a week or so ago, ive been listening to talksport from the days when it was a better station (talkradio) and hes been on air for years

feel pretty shocked by the news

did any one remember the clash of the titans from 4 years or so ago with mike dickin, tommy boyd, james whale and alan brazil ??

it was hilarious. they had a fight/ argument at the end with mike dickin storming out

sad news

I loved listening to Mike Dickin and admired his range of knowledge, underneath his " grumpiness" he had a wonderful sense of humour.

He will be sadly missed.

Rest in Peace, Mike, thank you for the listening.

yeah, boyd was a legend. now its just endless sport. i like football but sometimes i wish it would go back to being a talk only format with football just for special occasions like the world cup every 4 years etc

the golden era of boyd, james h reeve etc is long gone

although they still have some talk in the morning and after 10 at night till morning

Ian Collins did a decent morning show after Mike, but now Gaunt does it, and he is just a loudmouth who has destroyed the show.

You'd like to think his last words were, of course:

"My health is not in question!"

I had a preminition about this when I heard part of his show the other night (Saturday night I think) - he seemed very short of breath. So the preminition was right, but was the wrong cause of death.

I never liked him or most of his opinions, but I'll readily admit he was entertaining - and professional.

Wow, seems only five minutes since he was on the air at the time of Diana's car crash. I'd tried listening to his show last weekend too but the radio reception was too bad on my alarm clock radio. This is a sad loss for talk radio. My condolences to his family.

Mike Dickin was in his 60's as far as i know. What a tragedy. He spoke a lot a of plain common sense and was very entertaining most of the time. On a side note , how stupid are Talksport for playing a clip of Mike this afternoon as a mini-tribute , that contained him saying 'Nobody should own a motor car' Talk about insensitive. The news that Mike had died as a result of a car smash was already freely available by the time they played that. May your God go with you Mike !

What can I say, agree with all the sentiments expressed by other users.

Was a bloody damn good listen, down to earth, to the point and suffered no fools.

Friday and saturday late nights will never be the same.

RIP 'Man of the people'!!!!
