Absolutely gutted to hear this, sickening news. An absolute legend of talk radio in the UK. I've listened to Mike since he was on London Talkback.

Thoughts are with his family. RIP Mike.

I'm genuinely shocked.

I remember Mike THAT night - he was amazing.

I had the fortune to read news into Mike's shows on TalkSport.

He was a superb phone-in host.

Very very sadly missed.

CALLER: Hi Make, how are you?

DICKIN: My health is not in question.

I'm going to miss his heavy breathing.

He could be a good listen at times but I preferred the morning shows myself.

Did he say on his show that he used to play bass in a group ?

Very sad news indeed.

I remember when a caller once rang in to make a complaint about the new recipe for Mars Bars. Mr Dicken dismissed him with the following phrase before cutting him off:

"Shock, horror, how interesting, goodbye!"

He certainly had a way about him and he will be sadly missed.

I'm really shocked by the news of the sudden death of Mike Dickin.

Why i didn't agree with some of his views, i always admired that he was a professional, a really radio man and that he seemed to really love what he was doing...

He'll be missed...

RIP Mike Dickin

Very sad news - behind his grumpy facade was a brilliantly deft sense of humour.

I've listened to Mike on and off since the early days of Talk Radio and particularly since he moved to the 10-1 weekend slot. A great listen, however controversial his views may have been and I shall really miss hearing his voice in my ear when tucked up in bed weekend nights!

Was immensely shocked to read the news when I got in this evening and even shed a few tears, which doesn't happen very often to me. I guess it's touched me personally as his voice was the last thing I heard before falling asleep on many occasions and it will be very strange never hearing his distinctive voice again.

May he rest in peace and condolences to his family.

Oh, what a shock and a sad loss. I must admit that I did not listen to him much on TalkSport as I don't like the station or its format but I remember him, with fondness, from his days with Radio London (I think it was). Was he ever on LBC? I honestly don't remember but I was always listening to his phone-ins at lunchtime in the eighties, whichever station it was, that he was on.

Truly, a great loss to Talk radio

I can't believe it! When I saw the news I assumed it was because of his ill health, but to find out it was the result of a car crash just saddens me even more. That man was always going to die either struggling for his last breath on air or driving a car though.

I know he came across as an old curmudgeon, but every now and then he revealed his true self to be a really decent and funny guy.

I'm just thinking of all the times I remember him saying how much he enjoyed Christmas time. I'll shed a tear for the man I grew up with in the early hours of the weekend mornings.
