Tess (and Vernon) are on the Paul O'Grady show at the moment and she just said that Matt and Mark have to do 5 dances each

Ballroom
Latin
2 couple Viennese Waltz
Freestyle
And they must be participating in the group showdance......?

or perhaps a judges choice?

The Surrey CC site says participation in the group showdance!

Personally, I think this is a huge pity. With only so many hours the spectacle to which we will be treated will diminish with every extra element added to the programme. I, personally, do not see the need for the lads to be in the group showdance - finalists never have been before. It will be a huge amount of time (it always is when there are lots of people training together) out of an already restricted week. I would prefer them have extra time to polish their main performances.

Blimey - that's alot. I don't mind them participating in the group showdance as it will great to see them all together - including Mark and Matt.

But do we really need a 2 couple VW as well Though I did love M&K's so not really complaining.

I agree. they must be completely exhausted by now. They don't need the filler it's not a long show only an hour and 15 minutes.
Quality not quantity

That is far too much for them to do in one week. It will send the quality crashing down, when what we want is two dazzling freestyles.

5 dances is too many, honestly I'd rather Cliff Richard twice and give Mark and Matt more chance to perfect their freestyles then that.

*Sits on hands to stop rambling on about offering the rub Mark's aching muscles*

So that's what they mean by a marathon! This is terrible news. The quality will go right down as someone else said. And I was looking forward to them both fine-tuning their best dances and putting a lot of effort into a super freestylee. If this is true, we'll just be left voting on who has the most stamina!

5 dances is ridiculous. Ok for the professional dancers who arte used to remebering routines etc but for non-dancers. That's not fair. It sounds like the person left standing at the end will be the winner.

I think that five dances is utterly ridiculous ~ with the judges choice and the freestyle they have two new dances to learn, two previous dances to polish and practice, and a VW to do too. That is a ridiculous amount to perfect in a week and I can't see how they can learn it all! IF they were competing in a show like SDF when the prize is a professional dance contract I can see the benefit of proving that you are capable of learning a new dance in a day, but given that neither Mark or Matt are likely to be pursuing a career in professional dance it seems a bit unfair. It's going to come down to who remembers the most out of the avalanche of choreography they've been hit with this week, rather than who is the most capable dancer.

My, haven't the bbc handled the aftermath of Tarby's exit with panache . Poor Mark & Matt will be joining him in the blood pressure / heart condition ward at the end of this week!

Yep, five dances is an absurd requirement. I'd rather the BBC went down the less = more route. We've already seen both Matt and Mark struggle slightly to produce two dances of equal quality per week (though I thought they both delivered x2 in the semifinal).

I'd be amazed given the size of the task if we see any real improvement in the dances they've already performed. Too much to try and remember this week to be able to spend much time polishing what they already know.

5 dances is barmy...is this a time filler because they were anticipating a three person final with JT having to drop out.

They could surely "fill" it with a couple of routines from the professionals.

I'd rather see Matt and Mark able to concentrate on 3 well polished performances.

I agree, just put more routines from the professionals in the public will like that. And a few very good dances ot Matt and Mark.
I can't imagine their dances will be as good as when there had be a normal finale.

I hope they reconsider for next year or even better they've reconsidered for this year
They are doing 4 ballroom and latin dances in one night, never done before then the freestyle probably fast dance. Too much!!

I mean if they really need to fill time we could hear more from Pauline Quirke and her curry story....okay not that

I'm concerned about how much rest time Mark and Matt will have between each dance. I said earlier it'll be like a production line of dances. Quality will go right down.

Plus they have costume changes. WOW bet the other celebs are glad they're not in the final.

I'm sure that they must have budgeted for ten dances for a three person final (ballroom, latin and showdance each, plus a three way dance), and just decided to keep it that way for the two person final.

It does seem too much though.

Agree totally , very well put .
I feel this is all unfair and unnecessary , except to fill their time slot , botched when Jimmy left 10 weeks ago .You would think they had time for a better solution than this .

4 would have been enough 5 that's is overkill of Mark & Matt vw just as a reprise of the eliminated would have done.

Watching ITT tonight confirmed mine, and clearly many others, opinion that 5 dances is too many.

One of the past female contestants (mind block means I can't remember which ) said that the thing about the final is the judges want as close to perfection as possible. They'll be harsher, as they expect all the small imperfections to have been ironed out.

There is no way that Matt and Mark can go from doing 2 really good dances in the semi to doing 5 perfect dances in the final. I'm sure the judges will take the number of dances they are doing into account, and will comment on it, a lot, but I think it lessens what the final should be about - fantastic entertaining dances, and not stamina.

I have no doubt it's going to a fantastic final regardless and may the best man win!

*prays that the best man will be Mark*
