hi,what do you feel guys.i went to the o2 store to upgrade my contract.i am on 500 mions xnet & 100 texts for 35 pounds and i was offered 600 mins and 100 texts for 35 pounds on an 18 month contract and a o2 long weekend deal with 2000 extra minutes of free calls a month on weekends(sat, sun and mon) and a free phone.i wasn't thrilled about the phone i was offfered for free since i have a se k800i and nokia n70 and i would have preferred a phone which is better than those two even if it there was a discount price on it.
But the 18 months contract issue is just what i haven't made up my mind on.what should i do?

Dont accept it. Work out the costs and advantages and you might as well just go on pay as you go and buy a handset you want off ebay.

Avoid 18 month deals IMO. Just a nightmare.

I wouldn't go with an 18month contract, get board with the handsets to quickly!! The only advantage I have seen with them over the 12month deals is that you tend to get a bit more minutes or texts, Orange's 12month deals seem quite good.

do not go for 18 months contract. I got one with 02 same as urs but now im so worried. I have planned to cancel it once 12 months time is over then i will downgrade the tariff and pay for the next 6 months.

Just cant afford it now.

I would then buy a phone on cash back deal.. no line rent for 12 months with 600 cross mins and moto V3i.. i aint botherd about phone.

Yeh avoid 18 month deals I havr had both T-Mobile and Vodafone deals over that period. Things change over a year never mind a year and a half! Virgin Mobile are doing a good 12 month deal online 300 mins & 300 texts for £25 a month and an up to date phone even the Sony Ericsson W850i http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/payMonthlyTariffs.do gives you teh sprcial offer. If I was to move I would move to this deal!

Three are doing 18 month contracts (half price for 18 months) at £15 a month for 300 mins and 1000 texts. Now that is a deal worth considering.

Take a look at: http://threestore.three.co.uk/

my son got an 18 month contract with 3, despite our advice, the phone after 12 months isnt working properly he contacted 3 who told him to send it back (at no cost to him) but they returned it saying it was damaged not faulty. so he has 6 months of a contract to pay on a phone he cant use

If you haven't seen it already Three have changed there terms and conditions - £25 every time you want to downgrade. I am 3/4 way through an 18 month contract and will attempt to get out of it using their terms and conditions.
£15 a month looks good just now, what about 10 months into the contract? Could be ticked off like I am at the moment if they add other charges.
I thought about T Mobile but the signal is terrible where I stay.

the £15 a month for 18 months is a good deal and when your contract is up you can pick a new one or stick with it changing to £30 a month. 3 are a very good network it offers a good 3g service there only let down is there £25 downgrade charge.

I would avoid 18 month contracts. Based on experience I am wanting a new phone after 6 months let alone a year and a half. Do you really want to be stuck with the same phone for a year and a half?
