Aaaaagh - I've deleted everything!!

Ok so this may be a little bit sad but I got one of those HDD/DVD recorders specifically so I could record all SCD and ITT shows and keep all the bits I liked. I have spent *hours* editing out any boring/repetitive bits and started recording some of it onto DVD to make some room on the hard drive. Then, home poorly today (and obviously not thinking straight), thinking I was formatting a new DVD, I accidentally formatted the hard drive!

Yes, apart from shows 2-5 and a few bits of ITT which I had managed to get on DVD, the whole lot has gone down the Swannee - it took about 5 seconds to lose 3 months' worth of recordings. All those juicy bits of Louisa and Vincent on ITT...all those fabulous show dances...Matt Cutler snaking around to 'Don'tcha'...oh, SHOOT!!

*small voice* I don't suppose anyone else has been doing the same and would be prepared to share, for out-of-pocket expenses?

Oh dear that sounds like my worst nightmare!

I have show 4 onwards on sky plus but my dvd recorder is currently broke, should be getting one for christmas if you still need after that let me know.

The only ITT I have are with Mark on so don't have L & V

I did the same thing with this week's show... it's easy to do isn't it?

Anyway, apart from this week I have pretty much everything, so I could help you a bit. I don't really want to be copying all my DVDs as it would take days, but if there's a few shows you particularly want? Or I could do a compilation of your favourite moments on one DVD.

Anyway, PM me if you want.

Thanks for that offer - I may well take you up on that. I can't believe I was so airheaded. I'm still beating myself up about it.

I can't really help (only have Mark and Karen stuff), but I am so, so sorry... that sucks. I hope someone can get it all to you

I don't have mine in a DVD recorder. Mine was done with the USB stick connected to the antenna and they are all in my harddisk. Except I don't have the first and second week of SCD and ITT because I was hospitalised.

If anyone could put the first and second SCD 'episodes' in a DVD I will pay good money (£10 per disk, negotiable) for it!

Many thanks FionaH and dippydozy.

SCD-Observer - I'm fascinated at how you did that; connected to the antenna? (as in like, a tv tuner on the computer or something to do with the tv aerial? - either way, I wish I had thought of doing it that way) I do have 'episode' 2 but I've edited a lot of it out...to be honest I only kept the bits I wanted to watch again.

katie_p I will pm you with a 'wish list' - just do your best!

My sympathasies, Moorchild. I once deleted all my files while on Teacher Training. Luckily in those days it was possible to run a programme to regain files. Apparently *not knowing if it's still true* computers just change the last number of the file and they can be reclaimed. Hence why the police take people's computers into custody and can regain the files.

I don't know if this is still possible with the newer technology.

At least you've invented a new dance. Last week the Aaaaghentina Tango - your's is even more up-to-date!

Good luck

It's called a hybrid TV stick. You may be able to get it from amazon or your local PCWorld megastore.

OK, I admit - the Aaaaghentine Tango IS quite funny - even if I'm finding it hard to laugh at the moment!

Re files - well I've just heard there's software available to unformat a drive, but it would mean taking the drive out of the recorder I think and somehow plugging into a pc - which sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, given my track record so far....expert intervention definitely required! LOL!

A smile's a good start. You can't let technology beat you.

It's seldom admitted but these computer things have a special chip that can immediately sense nerves, desperation or anxiety - and they automatically go wrong. (I don't know the teccy stuff but I imagine it's stress related.) As an experienced English teacher doing an Open University course it was extreeeemely painful having to admit to a printer throwing a strop - and thus me missing a deadline. Having pooopaaahhhed I don't know how many hundred similiar excuses in my career!

Keep smiling - I'm sure it'll all work out - and hey - through the people who help you ... you might find a few more friends!

Have a really good Christmas.
