Pauline & Pat have never been close, they're not even proper friends. They've known each other for a long time, but that's it.

None of the Fowlers were too fond of Pat in the beginning.

I think in the beginning Pauline hated Pat because she blamed her for Kenny moving to New Zealand becasue of their affair when she was married to Pete. Also if I remember correctly Pat allowed Pete to believe he had fathered Simon when he was actually Kenny's.

It sounds confusing, it seems like the whole square is one big family anyway.

Whatever happened between them in the past, Pauline doesn't hate Pat now. I remember a few years ago when Pat was all alone and she was thinking of leaving Walford for good, and Pauline came over and told her not to even think about leaving.

With Pat being the square's 'Dear Deirdre' I'm surprised that Pat hasn't been over to chat with Pauline yet or even give her what for.
