I'm thinking about getting the music pack over Christmas, does anyone have it and is it any good? I had MTV with ntl a few years back which was ok but am wondering what the VMX channels are like
Music Pack- what's it like?
I quite like it.
There seems to be a good variety of genres and new releases are added on a fairly regular basis.
It doesn't cater for the more esoteric tastes tho, it's not a definitive collection of every bands output.
You also get VH1 and VH1 classic and acouple of the MTV channels.
I tend to listen to VMX.ALT and The Pit as I'm a bit of an old metal head, and of course RETRO takes me back to my late teens/early twenties when life seemed to be one long round of nightclubs and bars........ ahhh the good old days

Let's face it - there's not that many interactive music channels to give these awards to!

Arguably as it's VOD when referring to VM:X there's little distinction between a single service and a channel.
The award was part of the Interactive TV awards - so linear channels would be excluded. Again my point stands as it's interactive there really aren't any other contenders for interactiove music (Or weren't when it was being judged)

There literally wouldn't have been any competition at all at that time.
Not fair to say it was described the best music service going without a few caveats surely?
It's pretty good, and was one of a kind until the cablecos released their VOD offering, however neither of them are anything that can't be replaced with a fast broadband connection and normal broadcast TV. Pay your money, take your choice

typical more homechoice gloss over dross, 2 awards against basically no competition, save ya £6 and get a case of 24 bottles of beer and stick the radio on instead. just call me a grumpy old fart but HC have seen my last payment after the email i got from them 2 days ago after i complained aboout them charging me for a tv package that i didnt subscribe to ( When they introduced 8 meg service they did a broadband only pacjage which i signed a new 12 month contract for to explain things in short)
anyway basically the email said well if ya dont like it piss off which was nice considering ive been a customer over 2 years. well HC can kiss my arse with its crap tv, lousy customer service and overpriced crap.

Personally I tend to research everything to death and with more choice becoming available of late, I recently did a spot of investigating in terms of HV vs the competition.
For me, HC comes out on top for me - NTL, SKY, TUTVA. BTVision dont come close. I also have to say customer services have always been superb for me.
As far as V:MX goes, I dont use it as much as I could (except at parties when people fight over the remote for out "juke box" as they call it) but as for as Music VoD is concerned it is an excellent service.

It seems that for what you are using it for HC is too expensive for you. If your not using the TV have you considered a broadband only provider like Be, you can get up to 24Mb for £24 a month. Personally I use the TV side of HC a lot, but if I didnt I would certainly jump ship.
