I always thought the Tom Baker years got more viwers than Hartnell's first seasons.

Yes but baker had the large advantage of itv being on strike when some of his shows aired, meaning bbc1/2 were the only channels on. You can't really compare them.
Does the fact the threads for kids mean we can't mention the torchwood **** buddies?
