Grant, Phil & Peggy Mitchell depreciation
Is anyone else really sick and bored of EEs revolving around these three characters in particular Peggy & Grant who are the most overrated EEs characters of all time, Grants 2005 return was a complete waste of space he wasn't half the character he was from 1990 - 99 Grants era really was over and I hope he stays away. As for Peggy she hasn't had a decent storyline in her own right since the breast cancer one in 1996 she is just Barbara Windsor playing Barbara Windsor and its boring.
As for Phil he's not as bad as the other two but is also waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past his sell by date |

Count me in! I despise Peggy and Grant.
The Jane/Grant affair ruined both a perfectly good character (Jane) and a pefectly good relationship (Ian & Jane). Ross Kemp is such a hammy actor, and his character is well past his sell-by date. Peggy is almost as bad. Terrible, panto, OTT actress playing a nasty little witch. Totally pointless and boring Phil isn't that bad though. I quite like him. |

yet Ross Kemp just needs to turn up, order a beer in the Vic and be awarded the soap actor of the year award!

I hate the way they were hailed as some sort of saviours of the show, especially Grant, like the returning hero, and how Ross gets nominated for every actor award going when his ablilities extend to dramatic pauses and head-bobbing and nowt else. |

Grant is definitely past his use by date, his last return ventured into the Salmonella stage. What a complete waste of time and money bringing him back and in the process he damaged a fine character, someone who was really shining. Let's hope Laurie is given the opportunity to bring her character back up to the league she was in before this Grant hash up.
Peggy I can take or leave, she doesn't really hold my attention unless she's in amongst something big. Phil's OK sometimes, but he can be a pillock at times. He's a pretty great actor though, he could definitely teach Ross and Babs a thing or two. |

Its not so much that they are bad or good characters, its the pivotol position accorded them in the show, and the fact that the EE production crew treat them as though they are the be all and end all, that's why nothing *final* ever happens to any of them... they are always given a way out. That is what I resent the most. The last straw was when they were basically given the Vic back - literally. It was just so appalling that it verged on insulting.

I don't dislike the Mitchells, far from it but when one (Grant) makes a three month appearance and then wins actor of the year, it does annoy me.

I'm confused. How does EE revolve around these characters more than any other? We hardly see them unless they are needed.
Stacey and Bradley on the other hand are never off the screens. Thats overkill. |

What happened to their sister? I can't remember her name. I know she got framed for panto goose den watts murder, but what happened then? Didn't she get cleared when they found out someone else killed him?

I agree totally. Even when Phil got framed for armed robbery he managed to get out of it! Quote:

She fled to Brazil on a fake passport while she was on bail I think- she was going to get 9 years or something for being part of it I think, and she didn't want to go to prison. She got off the murder charge but was still an accessory to murder or whatever you call it!

She was also in disgrace at that point because she didn't kill Den. I hated the way Peggy was proud of her when she thought she had murdered him, that was sickening.

Westbrook snorted out half her nose, she was such a pretty girl too, last I saw of her she was with that phoney Derek Acorah and I think she has even been replaced by another blonde on that show too. I thought the other actress played Sam Mitchell really well, from what I saw.

The Mitchells have become a joke, particularly with Grant's on-off returns. They used to be good characters in the 90s but their scenes are always so overplayed and hammy nowadays.

Ross Kemp on Gangs. There is no reason for me to bring this up, but Mr. Kemp gains more respect doing that show than playing some character in a soap, it is his loyalty to Eastenders that brings him back many times, regardless of how rubbish the scripts are for him.
Mcfaddyen just looks like some fat old alcoholic and has a pinky/reddish face constantly, is this man always trying to force a poo out? I don't know, but he's angry about something. Saying that he is less annoying than Ian Beale. Does anyone know if Phil will give Beale another slap anytime soon? Or has Woodyatt put the matter to rest as he hates to look stupid on the soap, he foolishly forgets his attempt at growing a moustache

The whole Mitchell clan are completely past their sell by date. They are no longer entertaining.
The 90's were the era for them, and only the 90's. |

It's a tad unkind of you to assume that people who hate the Mitchells are so rare that they must be owning multiple accounts. What's wrong with disliking them then eh??? fair enough; you like the Mitchells and that's fine but just learn to accept the fact that not everybody else does. I don't mind them myself; apart from that terrible matriarch!! Last edited by Ella Plastique : 21-12-2006 at 14:06. |
