k800i 02 problems

Just sent my 3rd k800i back. The first one kept switching itself off. When it was sent back to my 02 store they swapped it for a refurbished one which doesnt switch off and also randomly crashes. I have insurence on it but im getting sick of having to send the phone back due to either a hardware problem or them damaging it.

Where do i stand? Can i demand a completly brand new handset? My contract began in july/august

Your problem began when you initially accepted a replacement refurbished handset in place of your new faulty handset.

You can certainly try and ask for a new handset now, but don't be surprised if they fob you off with a repair or at best a replacement refurbished handset. Changing it for a different model handset would be entirely up to the retailers goodwill.

What does the insurance cover? I guess its just loss and/or accidental damage, not faults that have developed, so that won't be of any use in this instance.

You don't need insurance for a faulty phone for the first 12 months at least. You only need it against damage and/or theft.

The phone is guarenteed so you are entitled to a new phone depending on how long you had the original one for. Or if it has gone past a certain date then they must repair or replace it to an item of the same value. It is there discretion as if they give you a refund though.

policy is that is covered by manufacturers warranty so you'll need to take to store for repair, if it comes back from repair with the same fault 3 times u can then have a replacement, but not until.

The K800i has not had a Firmware update yet since its launch, plus (depending on network) it has a setting on the phone that checks for updates automatically. Had my phone since they first came out and it checked for an update yesterday(O2) and there was nothing new.

Thats bad, I would say there is something wrong there. If your not in a 3g area turn off 3g as it will be consantly be hunting for the 3g signal. I always turn the flash off as well as every time the camera cover is opened the flash is charged wether it is needed or not.

The other half and myself have a K800 and she gets a week out of her battery, I get about 4days depending how much I use it.

thanks for the replies. My biggest problem is i dont feel after a few months they should just be able to fob me off with a refurb which is probably what they will do and wnat to know where i realistically stand

if you cant get it, your phone must already have it. a quick way to tell wjhen taking pictures does it take a few momments to save?????? if yes then old firmware with the new one this takes a fraction of the time.

Must have it already then, just tried a manual d/load and its the latest one installed.

As for saving pictures can't say I have noticed a lag, seems to do it in an instant.

Mind you saying that I had the 750i and after the update for that it seemed to slow things down. So I am reluctant to install new Firmware when its working ok.
