Padding on DVR-540HX-S

My friend's recently purchased one of these PVRs and has been trying to find a way to put padding into recordings as he keeps missing the beginning or end of programmes. I can't seem to find any info. in the pdf manual on their website. Does anyone know where i can find this setting?

It probably doesn't have a facility! My 630 doesn't. The easiest way is to schedule the recording as normal from guide Plus (via the EPG, Video+, or manually) then go back and edit the scheduled times.

Hmmm, that's annoying! thought a padding setting would be standard given the broadcasters ability ot to run to schedule. Thanks for the info. i'll pass it on.

One idea is to set the DVR's clock 1 minute slow...

You sometimes miss the very beginning of a programme but the end's more important isn't it! Of course, it won't catch the situations where a programme is 5 minutes over schedule but, to be honest, where do you draw the line? Even auto-padding won't catch all situations.

If something is really, really important then I make the effort to edit the times manually to give sufficient room, otherwise the default behaviour of the clock being 1 minute slow catches a lot of overruns.
