£500 quid or under to spend on a new TV and DVD player....any advice on what to go for? This will be my first DVD player so nothing too fancy and not too big a TV. Happy to buy online or in a shop (but remember we are limited with our shops in Aberdeen ).

Thanks very much in advance.

Most DVD players are very good, Woolworths do a couple for about £60 and I have one of these set up and have had no problems with.
I suggest you go for a widescreen television, I got a Philips one which was £460, but had a few problems with, now got a sony one that is fantastic, if you can stretch to the SONY KV28LS35, its normally £589.64 at Comet, but if you buy directly from there web site its only £519.93 with FREE delivery.

The tv is RGB copatable and has RGB image centering and picture tilt control so you can adjust you set to get a perfect image.
