£899 in the Boxing Day Sale?
I have just checked the Currys online prices and all the Panasonic TH37 and 42 Plasmas are shown as over £1000. Is there a special sale website? |

The 37" is now shown online Currys as £799. I must admit I am very tempted.

Apologies for my last post which it's now too late to edit - I'd put both 37" prices at £100 too low. |

I too was tempted by the 37" Panasonic - so much so that I bought one!
![]() Ironically enough, the cabinet (which normally retails for another £200 - £400) was free but I already had a TV stand so had to ask for the pedestal/tabletop specially. Was also very tempted by the 42" but erred on the side of caution - and am glad I did as the 37" is border (but not actually over the line ) oversized in my living room. Now I'm just petrified that I'm going to burn something into the screen - does anyone know what the estimated time-till-screen-burn is for a static image on an average plasma? Better yet, are there any online supertests? Am very satifised with the TH37PX60, however. |

As for screen-burn, you shouldn't have to worry much on Panasonics, remember though that the first few thousand hours of use is when it is most sensitive, so maybe avoid the logoed channels for more than a few hours at a time, and get rid of the press reds whenever possible. |

Thanks, I've been reading up and it seems the first 100 hours, then the next 900 are the most likely to introduce screen burn. So I've been very careful today (am watching E4 in "Zoom" mode to avoid the DOG (now I understand why they're so annoying!) and mainly watching the BBC channels.
The cabinet was offered free in Currys in Swindon - in fact the assistant had to order it with the cabinet, then add the pedestal and take the cabinet off the order (plus subtract the normal 149.99 cost of the pedestal stand to make the figures add up)! Personally, I was stunned when I saw how cheap they were selling the Panasonic's for - I've been sitting on a £1000 budget for the January sales and am I glad I waited. Considering the 42" was retailing for around £1299 and the 37" for about £1099 pre-Christmas, I was originally going to go for the 32" LCD (around £800, now reduced to £750) but I just found the price too tempting. |
