Kodak Easyshare battery question
DragonHeart
26-12-2006
I got a Kodak Easyshare C875 digital camera for Christmas and I'm really happy with it so far. I have a question about batteries though and I was hoping you guys might be able to help me.

The camera came with two Kodak oxy-alkaline batteries, these only lasted about 3-4 hours so I'm looking at what batteries I should pick up tomorrow. What are the best ones to use? I was thinking about picking some of these up. Has anyone used these batteries before, if so what's the performance like on them?

If you could recommend me any other batteries which might be better, I'd be really grateful!

Thanks

I just use normal ones with the Kodak Easyshare, never noticed any difference with the posher ones.
I'm rubbish at buying batteries (and lightbulbs!) so I usually just grab the first ones I can lay my hands on.

Do you mean normal alkaline batteries? I was trying those earlier and the camera only lasted 10-15 mins before dying. I checked out Kodak's site and it said not to use them.

I know what you mean though. I'm the same, I just grab the first ones I see. There's too many types of batteries these days!

Alkalines are always rubbish with Digital Cameras and other such digital devices which require a high threshold level of power to operate. In 'normal' analogue devices alkalines last a long time but their power delivery drops constantly and as soon as it drops below the level needed to operate the digital camera, the batteries 'die'.

Some good NiMH rechargables are much better (as you were thinking of buying) because their power output stays high for longer before dropping below the threshold.

The longest lasting are Lithium batteries. Of course, these aren't rechargable and they're quite expensive. Useful if you're travelling and can't/don't want to bring a charger.

Go with NiMH rechargables, the higher mAh rated the better.

Thanks for the advice I think I'll go with the ones on the Kodak site.

Wow. My alkalines last just as long as the others! It's a £50 camera though, is it because there's not much on it other than 'click'?!
