The mini SCART is for the VCR, not the CD.
The CD connects to the Audio phono sockets of the AV input on the back of the telly completely separate from the SCART.

Download it and go to page 8. That shows the connectors on the rear and side panels of the TV
The CD connects to the two audio sockets numbered 2 in the diagram and shown with labels "L" and "R" above them. The VCR connects to the mini SCART socket numbered 8 in the diagram.
You then use the "INPUT" button on the remote to select "AV" for the CD or "SCART" for the VCR.
