Yo!!! and good evening people

I have a dvd-cam corder model is hitachi mv3000eand i am having some problems connecting it to my pc and editing my videos.

I connected the usb to my cam corder, then to my pc and when i click on the drive for my cam corder it says "j: is not accessible incorrect function".

Anyone know what the problem might be?. Am i missing something?

Don't use Windows Movie maker on pain & death. Cheap, nasty and poor quality.

And, to be honest, DVDs (and the MPEG-2 video streams they use) aren't really great for editing anyway, to do a proper job you really need a DV camcoder and an editing programme like Adobe Premiere.

i have a dvd camcorder too.

which editing software are you using? i had an absolute nightmare trying to find some.

my camcoder doesnt have a dv out so i had to copy the dvds onto my pc and go from there. i couldnt find any software because manufacturers wouldnt support the .vob files (the raw dvd files) - i hear because of piracy worries

anyway, after converting vobs to mpegs (losing a lot of quality along the way) and editing them using movie maker i finally discovered that pinnacle studio supports .vob

so that was the answer for me. the top end software probably supports .vob too but studios quite cheap at £60.

like james2001 says, you probably should have got a DV camcorder in the first place, but i'm hardly one to talk!
